Solutions for 22" Weber Lid Sticking Shut -

Tar buildup inside the lid of my 10 yr old Weber Grill slides down around the edge / rim when I close it up after grilling/smoking and solidifies causing the lid to stick the next time I try to grill. Today I had to use a brick to beat up on the lid to get it to release so I could open it. I scrape the edge when I get it open but the lid still glues shut. Can I just buy a new lid? Should I just buy a new Grill? Is there a solution some genius has figured out to fix this problem? Thanks in advance!
I should mention I close the lid and vents after I cook which preserves the charcoal and wood chunks. The lid therefor stays hot as the charcoal and wood chunks cool.

Let it cool before you put the lid on.

lightly sand the inside rim of the lid and the outside rim of the bottom. First try spraying them with pam. If you can find food safe silicon spray (it does exist) use that instead of pam.

Easy off oven cleaner. Just clean the lid.
Or turn it upside down and torch it off.
Or throw kettle grill away and buy a new clean Weber Summit Charcoal grill.

Probably a build up of greasy crud. Could use degreaser type oven cleaner, Sam's sells a good cleaner. At worse use WD-40 wipe off real good and do a burn off of WD-40 residue.
Maybe take a pressure washer to it and give it a good overall cleaning.
