Take Allopurinol, and learn what your specific triggers are. While organ meats, red meats, and seafood are generally accepted usual suspects, I can eat seafood all day with no issue. I'm actually pescatarian "99% of the time."

But legumes are a trigger for me ... specifically peanuts. I didn't know because they're not a big part of my diet except for my 1 small serving of red beans on Monday ... but one day at my old job we were snacking on a huge bag of rosated peanuts like we were at a baseball game, and by 5pm I felt like I had a broken foot.

Learn what your specific triggers are, drink more water, take Alopurinol daily, have some Colcrys on hand for flare ups, and a bottle or 2 of tart cherry juice in the pantry.

If you ever have a seriously debilatating flare up, go to an urgent care or an ER and ask for a shot of Toradol in the arse. It's non-narcotic so they don't give you shite for asking for it ... knocks that gout out within an hour.
