in the Panchos thread I guess we are about due for another remember when thread.

I remember sitting in the Westmoreland Piccadilly Sundays after church and the lady was playing the grand piano in the middle of the dining room. I always wanted to ride the conveyer tunnel.

I remember eating Lumms "boiled in beer" hot dogs at Rebel Shopping Center.

Fleur De Lis when Junior Owned it and the Jax beer was cold and the pizza really was good. And the pinball machine was a dime and would tilt quicker than most.

Burger Chef at Plank and Airline.

All the McDonalds had the golden arch architecture.

Bob and Jakes on Government where Boudreauxs now is.

The Black Angus which is where LaFondas is on Airline. That was a long time ago.

Shakeys Pizza on Airline and the Bonapartes Fried Chicken.

Jack Sabins and The Village.

Burger Chef on Highland just past State St. (where the Jack in the Box is now)

Uncle Ben's Fried Chicken & hand-dipped ice cream cones on Nicholson, near the north gates of LSU

Round the Corner restaurant near The Varsity

Shoney's (complete with Big Boy statue) in Corporate Square Mall

The entire University Shopping Center--IHOP, Baskin Robbins, etc.

I used to like Rax Roast Beef in Houma when I would visit when I was a kid

I'd probably think it is terrible now but it seemed good then

All-you-can-eat wings buffet at Lymen White's Buffalo Wings Express on Highland at the North Gates.

EVERY meal at the original Silver Moon on a gravel road off Brightside.

The Big Lou platter at Louie's prepared by a cook that had 20 years in the same spot.

Poboys and pizza at the Pasttime...it's just not as good these days.

Blackened ribeyes at the cheesy steakhouse on Tiger Bend Road whose name escapes me at the moment.

The One-eye burger and jalapeno cheese fries(crinkle-cut) at Fred's in Tigerland when they still had a kitchen.

Chili-cheese dogs at Weinerschnitzel before they tweaked the chili recipe to add more meat...yes it tasted better before the added protein.

$0.10 oysters at Jones Creek Oyster Bar.

The Swab's Seafood buffet in Brusly...rated #1 in America by USAToday.

$0.25 wings at Hooters on Corporate on Sundays.

The $5.00 Maggio's-catered lunch buffet at the Gold Club.

Shakeys was near where Salsbury's Dodge City is or a little further down the road by where Olindes is. Had my first date at Shakeys Pizza Parlor.

I'd also like to remember Tony's Donuts. Now that there was how a donut was supposed to taste.

Yes right in there. Also had a Danny's Fried Chicken next door.

What was the place next to Broadmoor Theater and the barber shop that had great chopped beef po boys? Used to get my hair cut their when I was a kid by Rod and Johnny.

BBQ beef sandwiches at Pak a Sak which later was bought by 7-11.

Little Italy was a favorite and I vaguely remember Sigmunds Deli I believe on Government? Pickles in a barrel.

Didn't that become a pizza joint? I thought prior to that it was Wesleys, but the memory fades because I also remember a Wesleys at the Rebel shopping center as well. I too got my hair cut there back in the early 80s when Jimmy Jones owned the place.

Actually just north of the Farm Bureau insurance building. There is now a strip center there.

OMG I miss Joe D's. Grew up in Capital Hts right behind the place and lived on that chicken. You're right to remember that fondly. It was serious fried chicken.
