I was riding thru BR last week and passed down Nicholson and the old Silver Moon Cafe' came to mind. Not on Chimes, but when it was in the old house behind the tracks.
Does anybody else have fond memories of the smothered pork chops and smothered chicken?
That was the best hang-over food in BR!

Seems like everything there was smothered...the green beans even had gravy on them.

I'm sad i've never had the opportunity to experience this place. It sounds like it was awesome.

My buddy got the meatloaf one time, and found a bone in it.
It almost looked like a chicken bone. But we're still not sure.

It's not open anymore? I had a buddy that went to LSU and he took me there twice. The place was a dump but the food was good.

On Martin Luther King Drive.
Not open anymore. I think it burned down.

Mama gave me a pan of fried chicken, jambalaya, and smothered chicken for Christmas. Tasted just like the old days.

Ate there many times. The last time I was in there was on a Saturday at the Chimes St. location. From the table, you could see back into the kitchen. The old guy working in the kitchen was reheating the previous day's smothered chicken or pork chops. He was alternating between scooping a spoonful out of the ziplock bag to put in the pot and taking a bite out of the bag with the same spoon.

Ate at Momma's house a couple of weeks ago. Fried poke chops the size of manhole covers, white and red beans, and the best greens ever made. A food coma is it exactly.
She expects to launch her cookbook in June or July, and is talking to WAFB about a cooking segment (replacing John Folse?)
Sky, you have a standing offer to meet me there for lunch, just say the word.

I had a similar experience. Plus, there was a dog in the kitchen. Great food though-only got sick once.

The only time I ever went, I had a huge serving of smothered pork chops and blackeyed peas. Soul PERFECTION.
