+1. They've got a great, revolving menu focusing on wild game. They pour a nice Guinness and have an extensive Scotch menu. Depending on the night, you can hear some good music. It's heavy on cigar smoke though.
I'd throw The Village into the mix as well.

Yeah man. And chef actually sat down and talked to me for a bit. It was nice. Side kicker they got old rasputen double stout(off menu) it paired perfect.

None of the casino buffets are "upscale" per se, but I believe that at least one or two offer a seafood buffet on Fridays. I would probably rank the buffets the same as I would the casino themselves
Horseshoe
El Dorado
Sam's Town
Diamond Jacks/Boomtown
The one at Margaritaville hasn't been open all that long, and I don't know anyone that's gone to that buffet to give me a review.

yeah I honestly know nothing about the casino buffets. last time I was in Shreveport for any extended period of time and played poker I just ordered off the menu and got food delivered to the table. can't recall ever eating at a Shreveport casino buffet.

since Horseshoe has upgraded, I have ate at their buffet one time. It's not bad, typical buffet food. Overpriced but I usually go for free based on my losings the previous time there

I've never eaten at Binion's steakhouse either. people say it's good though. for a steak in Shreveport I like Texas St. Taven or 2Johns.
did eat at 1800 Prime in Boomtown once and remember it being surprisingly solid. better than Superior Steakhouse. and their wine list is killer.

If you're going out with business type people my suggestions are 1) Superior Steakhouse and 2) 2Johns. The Steakhouse has a very nice bar for drinks before or after dinner, but 2Johns does an aged Old Fashioned that I'm pretty wild about. 2Johns is in Bossier so it loses. Binions does a good steak but getting there, and the atmosphere are not the best - I go pretty often because they throw the $100 vouchers out like they're candy but it's not ideal. The Village is badass but it's really, really goddamn expensive (prices are unlisted but the Cow Girl Ribeye is sixty fricking dollars) and so dark that if you're with two other guys it's assumed you're plotting an assassination.
If you're just dying for a buffet, check out Margarittaville.

That is for sure. I took the wife there last year and while it was good (especially the Snowflake for dessert), I probably wouldn't go back again. I just wanted to go once so I could say that I had eaten there.

How's Anthony's? Anyone been?

The steak is great. The area and atmosphere are bad. Quite a hike from downtown. It's a place I go on a week night if I have a craving for a strip steak, but wouldn't go for a special occasion - if that makes sense.

I am partial to The Cub, steaks and Au gratin are great. Believe it is the same owners as Texas Street Tavern?
Chianti's is also very good.

Will need Gary to chime in on the cub. I thought I heard the quality had declined...I could be wrong

can't have a shreveport conversation without someone bringing up the cub. It might be the most over rated place in america. I was told I was being taken to the eat the best steak ever. I left wanting my money back. I will never understand why evey person that has grown up in sherveport raves about this place. But to each his own

I've never eaten there. I've just seen some threads on here discuss the decline in quality
