Wife and I will be in Shreveport / Bossier City two nights next week for a concert. Any recommendations on a dinner spots. Staying at the horseshoe but will have my vehicle. Looking for a nice dinner.

Best steaks in town IMO are the original Silverstar out by Louisiana Downs. Get a ribeye and an order of their au gratin potatoes. Great eye candy as well...David knows how to hire them.

Could also hit Silver Star Grille in south Shreveport...a few more menu options than the original.

Ate at Fat Calf Brasserie a couple of weeks ago and it's in our normal rotation for nice dinners.

Chianti would be very nice as well and you can never go wrong with Superior's Steakhouse

Get a reservation if you choose Fat Calf, Chianti or Superior's Steakhouse

Recently went to Zazul for the first time. It was one of the best meals I've had in Shreveport.

I prefer 2John's over Superior Steakhouse.

Is Lucky Palace still around? I heard the owner died of cancer a few years back. It certainly made the drive through Shreveport worthwhile. I last stopped maybe November 2023 and I could tell it was slipping a bit without the leader around.

Lim passed away back in '22. I was good friends with him since the late '90's. Probably ate there at least once a month for a couple decades. They moved out to Louisiana Downs last September and I've heard it's not the same and that's a real shame. Best Chinese food in town for years and an awesome wine collection.

Good stuff in here so far. Heron south of town is also an excellent meal and great date spot. There and Zuzul are the spots if you want seafood.

I've lived in quite a few big cities with very active Chinese communities and this place could easily hang with the best in Chicago, New York, etc... I never got to meet Lim but I loved this place.

Bella Fresca, Heron, Fat Calf, Zuzul, or Koi. Cannot go wrong with any of those.

I’ll add Tejas for upscale casual.
I haven’t had it yet, but SushiKin has added a pretty amazing looking Omakase (sp?) menu- check their FB page for reviews, pics and videos.

That is a shame. I would cross the river and go when I was in Shreveport for work, which used to be often.

Had a great vintage atmosphere and vibe in the old place in that rundown motel. Oh, and the food and wine were pretty damn good too

Will second the recommendations for the following.

Silver Star out by La Downs - everything on the menu is great plus usually live music.

‘Iltalianos - Really good Italian within walking distance from where you are staying.

2 John’s - nice upscale romantic restaurant. Steaks are as good or better than Superior and best thing is you don’t have to drive into Shreveport.
