I LOVE bourbon, but my special occasion drink is Balvenie 21 year portwood. Oh man.

Over Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban?

I've never had it. I love the Lasanta for taste obviously but it's one of the best value priced scotches out there

The Quinta Ruban is only $40. Instead of the Sherry casks for the lasanta, they age it part time in old port casks.

If you drink a glass of scotch and follow it with a glass of bourbon; you'll think the bourbon is tasteless.... just saying

I can enjoy a good scotch but I couldn't disagree with this statement more. Unless the scotch is peated or an absolute sherry bomb, it just comes across as watered down in comparison to a decent bourbon. I will say that I prefer bolder flavored whiskey. People love to compliment a whiskey by calling it smooth. Smooth can be boring. Regardless of which I have first, whenever I've had a bourbon and scotch back to back, the scotch just doesn't hold up.

When I do get scotch, I generally reach for something heavily peated. Ardbeg being a favorite brand of mine.

No

Scotch tastes like someone figured out how to remove all the foul flavors from Bourbon, and bottle it.

If you’re a fan of sherry you should check out Aberlour A’bunadh. Aged in sherry casks, it changed my preference from Bourbon to Scotch.

Bad scotch is worse than bad bourbon.
Good scotch is far better than good bourbon.
Mediocre scotch is a little bit better than mediocre bourbon.
This is all true. Although good bourbon is cheaper than mediocre scotch so there is the cost consideration for everyday sippin. But nothing beats a great single malt scotch.

Scotch is to hazy IPAs as bourbon is to NW IPAs...

Let the downvoting begin...

NE IPA >>> NW IPA

Had a pour of Glenmorainge Lasanta Tuesday night, loved it; had a pour of Colonel Taylor last night, loved it.

Have you had the Quinta Ruban? I love the Lasanta too but the Quinta Ruban might be my favorite 12 year out there.
