i grew to hate Schwegabag's as a kid...
my mom would drag us there once a week and spend what seemed like hours in the place along with every other mom and grandmother in the area. especially during the summer non school days. the last place i wanted to be was in this warehouse of a grocery store.
Then as an adult i learned to appreciate being able to get everything i needed in one place.

The bakery at the Labarre Airline store, I think it was called Dixiana, had this pastry we called 'sinkers'. They were baked in a small pie shell, filled with this heavy compacted cake, sort of like Russian cake, then the top had a chocolate covering. A glass of milk and one of these things and even a 12 y/o boy didn't eat for hours.
I have never seen anything like it since.
