I need 5-6 pounds of good quality sashimi grade tuna. Any recommendations for such in South MS or the Northshore area? I live in the Pine Belt and am willing to drive a little ways for it.

Whole Foods typically has sashimi grade tuna. Mandeville has a location.

I didn’t know they had a Mandeville location. Thank you. I’ll check it out.

Let's see, Whole Foods + Sashimi grade tuna = $$$$$$$$$$$$

I find Whole Food meat and seafood prices to be insanely high, even for the more common cuts and grades. I'd not want to pay for sashimi grade tuna or prime steaks in that place.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Yeah, be prepared to give them your first born, or find something else to feed the guests.

Kidding aside, it's not my money so the OP can buy whatever he wants at any price. All I was saying is, it's not for me with Whole Food pricing.

There is a new sign that states "Lower prices brought to you by Amazon"... LOL

Sashimi grade isn't really a thing. It's made up for marketing and is based on zero standards. Tuna is graded, but no telling who's buying what in your area. Whole foods is expensive, but they are usually one of the few places that sell fresh never frozen tuna in many markets.

Drive the extra 40 minutes to Costco.

Sushi grade just means flash frozen on the boat. Most tuna is sold that way.

I bought some blue fin tuna from Rouse's in Ponchatoula that looked great for $20 / lb. I bought 5 lbs and ate some sashimi from it. It tasted great! I froze the rest for later.

Talk to the guys at either Kenney's in Slidell or Mandeville Seafood on Hwy 59.....they'll get it for you and won't rape you on the price. They'll ask you the grade and in the seafood biz it's either a 1,2 or 3 in terms of grade

We usually buy it from the local asian food store when we are making our own sushi.

For us it's the Oriental Market in Metry.
