its in the old rotolo's spot on thomas downtown
1) the place looks great, freshly re-done with a really nice long bar and confortable set-up
2) servers are extremely friendly & enthusiastic
3) excellent cocktail program, i had a couple of old fashioneds made with rum and the wife had sangria, both really good. lots of rum options as you'd expect. gnarly barley & others on tap
4) really interesting menu. we had pork empanadas, chicken with mango salsa and roasted pork. all flavorful and well done
what i didnt see was yucca/plantains much on the menu so i hope they add those. otherwise this is a nice addition to the hammond options

I Need to go try this place. Made a trip there a couple of months ago but it was still Rotolos (Even though the sign was different). May have to try one of those Old Fashioneds.

Food is pretty mediocre, especially for the price. I do like the building and the service was fine. I was unable to try the cocktails.

I'm pumped for it, I love Cuban food so hopefully it's good. They are doing two for one Cuba Libres in celebration of Fidel dying, unfortunately I won't be able to partake in the festivities because of finals.

Bump
Went Saturday and the food we pretty good. If I was still in Hammond, it would for sure be in my rotation of places to eat. We got the medianoche, picadillo, ropa veija, and the plantain nachos. All were very good, especially the medianoche. I liked the picadillo the most, but the Cuban girlfriend did not give it her seal of approval. The drinks were pretty cheap, but good (I think like $5/6 for a Cuba Libre double).
Only negative was the service was extremely slow, but they only had two waiters and each had a table of 10+ and some other smaller tables, so I am willing to give them a pass on that.
