I'm sure it will be, as it will probably be another old arse shelf turd. Most craft beer fans I've met tend to eschew Sam Adams on general principle, and most casual beer drinkers aren't going to buy a DIPA.

Then again, I could be speaking completely out of turn. Does the Rebel line of beers tend to stay fresh? I never check.

Rebel IPA is a pretty good IPA. No reason to think the DIPA will be malty.

It doesn't surprise me that people shy away from drinking a Sam Adams though.


I will probably try the coffee stout when I see it.

I wouldn't know because I have never bought it from a store. Probably not, though.

Rebel IPA is okay. It's a beer I'm not mad to drink when the rest of the selection is BMC.

It likely won't be a hop bomb.

I've had to drink a fair share of SA beers while traveling. Their Rebel series with another name on the label would pass muster with most craft beer people. I'm sure the DIPA will be serviceable. SA is certainly caught in a trap between the "mavens" who won't drink it because of them being big and uncool and BMCish and the BMC group who think it's too fancy. Sucks for them really. They're a pioneer with a good business model who somehow got caught up between the two driving forces of beer consumption.

The left hand nitro baw milk stout is pretty much my favorite non seasonal / special release beer
