My clique is the people that walk in. If you have a problem, let me know. Either I fix it while you're here or we shake hands and at least respect each other. I REFUSE to fix an issue that I find out about on Yelp!

So fricking take it up with Yelp then.

Can only tell you my only experience with Yelp through a business owner.

My friend owns a vet clinic. He treated a dog that was beyond saving and the animal died. Some negligence on the dogowner side, but basically the dog had little chance.

The dog owner then went to Yelp and posted a bunch of shite about how the dog was killed and blah blah. Poor service, quality, etc.

Had all of their friends upvote the shite out of the review and the first thing that showed up was the review.

The person then showed up, at the clinic, and went on a rant to the point that the cops had to be called and the person arrested.

Meanwhile, my friend inquired about getting the review removed and brought all of the evidence to Yelp. Yelp basically said it could only be removed for a price.

So again, bullshite review, but makes enough sense and is the top review because it is deemed most helpful.

Your explanation for your yelp responses kinda makes it worse.

"Kinda" is being kind. As I said before, this guy doesn't get it. He really doesn't. Shame he hasn't learned anything. He's only willing to respond reasonably if you tell him in person, not that I trust that having read his responses. That ain't the way of the world anymore. Either respond that way all the time or don't respond. Calling people idiots is just plain old stupid and bad business. There is no acceptable excuse in this situation. I found no humor in any of the responses.

Why do you have to bring dogs dying to this thread? It just got real good.

I wish it were that easy! Read Yelp's disclaimers and then go to The Sammich New Orleans...read the review by Joseph M. He's never been here and I can't do anything about his review.

Exactly. He's going on and on about Yelp as if it's some outlier among social media. You can't treat customers online in that condescending mocking manner and not expect to pay some kind of price for it. And you can't wish it away or claim some conspiracy. I think people know to not treat Yelp reviews as gospel. God forbid this guy discovers Urbanspoon, TripAdvisor and Facebook. He may have an aneurysm!

The Joseph M review is no longer there. Look again.

You dug yourself a hole and the fact that you still believe that your manner of responding is justified in any way tells a lot about you as a business owner. It's not good.

Really? I know you use some deductive reasoning, but a typical tourist visting will go for whatever those stars tell them. It is a fricking joke.

Yea you could have. You could have refrained from insulting people and acting like a child on the website. His review would have never been posted

For what its worth, he didnt talk about the food or anything at the restaurant. He responded because of your comments on there.

Brew64me, I've been to your place many times and miss the chicken livers. Any chance you bring those back. Also how did you come up with the name for the shop ?

Love the location

You're right, he will pay some kind of price for his words.

The price will be people who are offended by a simple overreaction on Yelp.
R2R- If Sammich had the best poboy in town would you give 2 shites if the owner slammed a few Yelpers?

I highly doubt it.

Why is everyone getting worked up about this? Did this guy come start a post on here asking people to come eat at his restaurant?

If he is offending so many of you, why keep responding? Just let him go on his way and have his business die, which is sure to happen according to the experts on here.

Nah, he would still go into the back beer room and act like a local to get the good shite.

Exactly. There were so many other ways to have responded to those posts if the owner felt a response was necessary. A reasonable response would have gotten some glowing praise here, for example. We've seen that happen many times and seen people turnaround and willing to try a place again and others want to try a place just based on the owner's/manager's response.

TJ Ribs used to get some rough reviews. Remember when Beauxnes posted here? I don't think he ever responded in any way other than in a positive manner and regardless of the review, he always invited the person to come back and took heed of the concerns placed. I had a lot of respect for the way he handled himself.

I dont think anyone is worked up. Its a message board and it was an interesting topic.

The only other threads going today was a steak flipping thread and a dragos to BR thread. Pretty much a slow day on here so Sammich thread got the most replies

Precisely. I have no problem with that. And I don't think like ft suggested that people (especially locals who are more apt to eat at Sammich than tourists) put a whole lot of stock in Yelp reviews. It's often more for encyclopedic uses.

I know plenty of people who won't set foot in Stein's because they think the owner is a complete prick. I have no hesitation saying people will treat this place similarly. As I would.

Did you read the thread? Nobody is "offended." The main points of contention has been over Yelp's business practices and the owner's response to negativity.

What "good shite" does Sammich have one can't get elsewhere?
