Mowata is a real place...Google can be awful when it comes to rural place names. It dredges up some placenames used by no one, and completely skips over those actually in use.

Well shite. If you ever find yourself in the city limits of St. Joe, LA, you'll be within a 1 minute drive of the place. Just ask somebody where the tamale man is.

You can stand in the Mosca's parking lot and see the Avondale Fire Station, and the glow of the sign from the giant Racetrac gas station....I dunno if that's truly rural by LA standards.
A few suggestions for River Parishes/SE LA:
the Goal Post Drive Inn, Raceland
Harry's Poboys, north Larose
Blackie's, Lockport
the Fatty Shack, Luling
St. Rose Tavern, New Sarpy
Rita Mae's, Morgan City
Latin Corner, Morgan City
Pirogue's Cafe, Reserve
St Gabriel Grocery & Deli, St Gabriel
Roberto's River Road Restaurant, Sunshine
River Queen Drive Inn, Port Allen
That's all for now, I'll add some more later. Love the idea....
