Did you read my review? App, 2 entrees and dessert. And no, we didn't get the damn tacos!

And regarding soft drinks, not only do I eat out almost every meal, I waited tables as a side job. I just notice that the prices have increased from, say $1.50 to $2.75 in a short time. $2 seems about right. Almost $3 for a soft drink? I am not a bottle beer drinker, but I remember my friends getting domestic bottles at Port Royal for less than that! So, to answer you, yes, I pay for every meal, and I am well aware of the prices, just seems to be a bit much. My grumbling about it doesn't make me ignorant.

Which if done right are awesome, but I did enjoy the duck tacos at RH the last time I ate there. That was about two years ago. The duck cracklin made the tacos for me. I need to make a trip back.

They aren't exotic but they aren't on the menu at these places you mention. Your places offer standard tex mex fare tacos

Tex Mex is what Superior tries, and fails, to make well.

La Casita doesn't serve their tacos with fricking sour cream and shredded yellow cheese bro.

All I am saying is Rum House offers dishes that those places don't and that those dishes RH offers, are what I go there for.

Haven't read through the thread yet. Is this the same as the one in New Orleans?

If you are going to do rum house, do it for what it is. It's not a high class, fine dining place. Go on Tuesday afternoon, get a bunch of cheap tacos and beer, and have a good time.

It's a fun place to get drinks and have decent food. What is there to wonder about?

I've been there a lot since the very first day it opened and I still don't get it.

I don't find it to be a "fun place", and I don't think the food is decent, it is well below decent. But the place is WILDLY popular, so I just chalk it up to "I don't get it".

I noticed you didn't post the link for Casa Borrega.

Here it is.

While both of my examples have differences, the cuisine is largely the same .

I put a higher premium on well executed food then you do.

Most restaurants have been around the $2+ range for the last 10 years

Port Royal isn't the best place to use as a basis for prices. Tom undercuts everyone and that bar's prices are not the norm.

Haven't seen you in awhile in the normal hangout. Where you been?

Yeah, I don't need a certain type of atmosphere to have a good time. I leave that to my own choice of company.

"Fun" places I leave to groups of 20-something girls or gay dudes.

The only thing I'll really get there now if I go is the cuban which is just okay. When you have Cochon Butcher around it's tough to give it high marks, since there's obviously better places to get one. The tacos I find small and bland and "overthought."

Best time to go is for Happy Hour... I had 4 of their "Painkiller" drinks for $20 and I was feeling great. Their nachos are pretty good and can feed an entire table. The ceviche tacos are on point.

im not sending people there as a cant miss recommendation, but all the food i have gotten has cleared the bar of acceptable/decent/good enough that ill eat it.

granted thats not a ringing endorsement but i wouldnt qualify it as well below decent. not sure if our opinions vary on the food or the meaning of the word.

Maybe you don't have fun people to go with? It's an enjoyable atmosphere, and I doubt you'll find many that disagree.

Well below decent? Maybe your standards are way too high. It's nothing earth shattering, but it's not overly expensive, and they have decent food. I think you're the first I've seen on here say the food is well below decent.

Maybe you need to just cook at home for yourself

Overthought was the exact thing I thought when I read the menu.

Its a place to drink imo. If you want 'mexican', we have much better in the area

No. I've been there a lot because one of my closest friends has been there since the beginning. I went there to say "whats up" since our schedules are so different.

But I'm not really a big drinker and I'm not a college kid so I've never fully gotten the appeal.

My friends would definitely be considered "fun people", coincidentally they like it a lot more than I do.

I think your standards are probably just garbage. The food there isn't very good. The tacos are decent but, to me, are very muddled.

The drinks are pretty decent.

So people that don't like Rumhouse should just go eat at home. Got it.

So my standards are garbage, then you use the same word I used to describe them. Congrats on the apparently garbage standards.

No, you just sound impossible to please if you think their food is well below decent, which apparently you actually don't.
