Baton Rouge doesn't seem to have enough restaurant diners to provide staying power to even a fraction of the restaurants that we have.
A new place opens up and everyone floods it, for just a few months or so, and then everyone returns to their usual 3-4 places they go, and that new place is suddenly empty.
I'm trying to think of a restaurant that opened 3-4 years ago that is still packing it in on a regular basis.

I think that parking lot hurt Rum. Big building, very limited parking. Some don't want to park in that field, the bank didn't want people using their parking, etc.
Then superior probably took a lot of their drinking crowd and they didn't really do much to combat it
so they had a pretty solid run of 5 years there, more than just a quick flash

How is K Street and Overpass Merchant doing? I’m sure there are more but that’s the two that came to mind.

I wish they'd pack up and move to the Government St. corridor. That seems like a good fit for them.

I would say Elsies and the Merchant fall in this category

a few years ago but really not so much recently. Most times I've been in the last year or so the only thing that seemed to be doing well was brunch, other than that probably not even half full. Their taco tuesday even stopped drawing a crowd.
Agree. Went on a Friday at 3:30 for drinks on the first beautiful weather day we had this year, and we were the only people in there. Meanwhile people are fighting over barstools down the road at Superior at that time on a Friday.
It does make me sad though because I actually like their food/drinks and the owner is a really nice dude. Baton Rouge can be so wishy washy :/
I do agree about the cold food. I had switched to only ordering nachos the past few times. Get the feeling the taco station is set up like a Subway back there and the food isn't kept very hot.
