I'm a fan of pizza in general and I'm constantly trying new places. As far as I am concerned, there is no pizza I wouldn't eat but some I'd choose more often and before others. Just was not a fan of Rocca's. I am red zeppelin homer when it comes to BR pizza and being originally from Hammond, I am also a Tommy's pizza die hard.

I’m the same; I’m originally from the northeast and I know quality pizza. Haven’t really found anything in BR that I’d consider top-tier but I was hoping Rocca would be on the level. Have you ever had Ancora?

based on just the pizza it does not come close to Red Zeppelin, lit pizza, or even Mellow Mushroom.

Ancora is better, but Rocca at least belongs in the same conversation, unlike the rest of the pizza currently being offered in Baton Rouge.

I think the pizza at Rocca has great potential. The ones we tried were the potato and the mushroom one, and while both seemed good, I think I’d rather try a different type next time.
And I couldnt believe the beer prices, I’m not paying $8 for an envie or voo doo
Red Zeppelin is still my favorite in BR for convenience, atmosphere, drink and food prices and specials, pizza types, etc. Its a great place to bring kids and catch an afternoon baseball game or evening dinner.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m still a fan of Regenellis, Fleur De Lis, and most likely Rocca to try again in the future.

Ancora is now open for lunch 7 days a week.

I ordered the potato pizza once. Pretty damned mediocre in flavor. I think I liked the mushroom when I ordered it...
It's been a little while since I've run through their menu, but their margherita is my go to.
I do agree that their beer prices are absurd, though

home of the $9 jucifer
i enjoyed the food at rocca very much and it was fun place to have a date. I don't live in BR but we will make the effort to go back.

We went last night for the first time. Over last couple years, pizza margarita is my favorite pie. Wow did it fall short. I was pretty bummed of how bland and watery it was. I guess the sauce was too thin. Not enough basil either.
We also got the southern fried pizza and the iverstine. These two were delicious and its hard to pick a favorite. I would give the nod to southern fried. I am not a huge fan of blue cheese but everything combined made a tasty pizza. I thought it was pretty creative. Pizza iverstine was delicious as expected.
The garlic knots were not my favorite. I actually didnt taste any garlic. The first flavor that came off the knots was a strong citrus flavor. After the citrus died down, it started tasting like a beignet with the aroma of the deep fried oil.
Will I go back, yes. Was I blown away, No.
