I always hesitate to order these at Asian restaurants, but I want to try them. What do they taste like? Are they hot?

They say 1 in every 10 is hot. I've definitely had some really hot ones, but the majority will be mild.

Guess it depends how sensitive you are to heat whether it is worth ordering. You will most likely get a hot 1 or 2.

Boru makes a good shishito app. Try the cucumber app as well.

I grow some every year to grill. I do it while they're still green.

They’re rarely hot in my experience. I usually lightly toss in olive oil, blister them in skillet, then hit them with some salt (required) and lemon juice (optional). Great little app that my family loves.

Ha I never knew they got red, I've always had them green. My mom grows them and we buy them from the grocery, I love them.

As said one in every 5-10 is hot, its frustrating I'll pound them and then one will come out hot and bite you.
