Joe D's was a BR institution, grocer and deli. It somewhat like drugstores Griffon's and Dearman's, had great sandwiches, burgers, poboys, and cane sugar soft drinks aplenty in glass bottles.

When we were kids Mom would get Poboys and Pizzas from this place in the Broadmoor Shopping Center called Wesleys. I did not realize for many years, that they are the same folks that now own the Pastime............

Leon's Italian Kitchen! Mickey's gold nugget, who remembers those?

Leons was in front of the Exxon admin building under the I-110. Mickey's was on Nicholson approx where Rad Cycles is.

Doug's in Slidell. Yes it was next to a Retirement Home. No, they could not cook a steak to temperature.

But the Shrimp & Crab auGratin casserole was perfection!

I always got fantastic service in the bar - food and drinkwise. And no pour spouts on the booze. You took care of them, they took care of you.

One of the bartenders is at Gallatoire's now, by the way.

Hey Zippy, I remember Leons off of Scenic Highway. I went to high school with his son and daughter. I also remember Mickeys Gold Nugget. The steaks were great.

Mr. Lucky's at Lucky's Food Store in Greenville, MS. The best take-out chinese EVAR. Even though the store is so dirty no one would think of eating from there. And make sure to lock your car. The other is The Cowpen in Lake Village, AR. Just across the bridge from Greenville. Best Mexican food not prepared by Mexicans. Not only do you get chips and salsa when you order, but salsa, cheese dip and bean dip. Everytime. And sherbet to end the meal with. Good times.
