I will be traveling to San Marcos, TX for a couple days every month for close to a year for work. Looking for any food recommendations that I must try in the area while I'm there. Not a picky eater so any food type is appreciated. Thanks.

If in the mood for BBQ, Blacks and Coopers are quite delicious.

Always a good choice.

Taproom was a staple when I was in school there. Although it was around $10 burger and beer Thursdays and walking distance to campus. That was also 20 years ago.

My nephew is there and we went to friends and family weekend to watch them play ULM. It was a good time and seems like a nice little town.

For BBQ in San Marcos proper, Hays County is the right choice.

Naked Cafe used to be good for breakfast/lunch

I'd suggest taking a short drive out to Hays City Store for dinner. Great outdoor/bar area with some really good food.

Surprised it took that long before a Herbert’s recommendation.

Herbert’s has more of the “nostalgia factor” for me. I prefer Garcia’s in Kyle when I’m in the area.

This!

Taproom used to be good and I think they changed ownership recently and the menu changed and the food has suffered.
