Due to covid and slaughterhouse employees? Well apparently it is over and they have shipped plenty of pork to Sam's. Went yesterday and there were huge packs of pork chops and country ribs for nothing. I know they are regularly on sale and I don't know what I paid per pound but we got an enormous pack for $10. Put all the center cuts on the grill and the ones that look like pork steaks are being smothered. I think it is 16 huge chops.

Just an FYI in case anyone else is bored

Sam's is where we buy porkchops. To me, the big chop packs are always a good price and, while they aren't as thick as they could be, they are plenty thick enough for spur of the moment eating. We take them and individually wrap them in plastic wrap, then throw them in a gallon zip lock bag after freezing them. they seem to hold just fine in the freezer done that way.

We probably need to go grab a pack and restock the freezer. To me, pork chops are a perfect "Don't know what we want to eat tonight" option.

Country ribs are a nice option we haven't had in a while. Should get some of those, too.

To be honest, I never saw any shortage of pork products this year. I heard of people talking about it but at the same time Rouses was selling 2 pork butts in a vacuum bag at $.99 a lb. and I could buy all the pork bellies, loins, chops, etc. I could want.

It was nothing like the "Great Toilet Paper & Hand Sanitizer Shortage of 2020".

There was indeed a pork shortage due to pork processors shitting down for Covid. It affected my industry greatly for a while. Other processors who further process pork products had a hard time getting pork and some even had to take a few days off because they had no pork.

Is anyone having trouble finding paper towels?

I finally got some at Costco on Thursday - but maybe it’s just me.

Sam’s did have a lot of good looking pork products when I went earlier in the week - but my freezer is full

A couple weeks ago my wife went to Costco and they were only allowing customers 1 pack of toilet paper and 1 pack of paper towels. Not sure if that is still going on.

Sam's has pretty good meat. I buy steaks there and they are pretty damn good most of the time. Most of the time when I do "pork chops" I just get a pork loin and slice it myself. I'll do a 1" thick dor me and my son and 1/2" or so for the girls.
