recs on decent tailgate knife set

looking to get a 3-5 piece knife set in soft case to use for tailgating etc. Dexter-Russel?

Yes. Why do you need 3-5 knives? A DR serrated and a chef's knife ought to get you there. And if you lose them, no big tears.

I bought a couple of Farberware knives from Bed, Bath and Beyond quite a few years ago that have held up well. I bought a case for them separately. Also, BBB always has a 20% off coupon, so my cost was minimal.

I have a few in a canvas bag, a filet knife, carving knife, boning knife and a serrated knife I keep wrapped in an old chamois cloth. I also keep a few other things, long handle spoon, tongs, spatula, can opener, corkscrew, salt and pepper shakers, toothpicks, lighter etc...

It's like a little military canvas tool bag and great for tailgating. I use it when I hunt or fish as well.
