Looking for a pellet grill/smoker and I've read multiple old threads - narrowed it down to a Recteq RT-590 and a Grilla Silverbac Alpha. The problem is delivery - my understanding is that both of these are delivered on large trucks, and I live down a long, narrow gravel driveway. The UPS truck (depending on the driver) does make it down my driveway but anything larger isn't going to make it. I've considered knocking down a size to a RT-340 since they are delivered UPS, but I hate to buy one and outgrow it too quickly. Also seen horror stories about UPS deliveries.

So the question is, can anyone recommend something on the quality level of the RT-590/Silverbac and in the same price range (below $1,000) that I can buy in-store on the northshore or within a reasonable distance. I really don't want to step down to a Traeger or a Pit Boss.

Suggestions?

Get the Rec Tec. Have it delivered to a friend's house. Then just take it out of the box. You can take home and assemble. Nothing beats quality of the Rec Tec.

I have the 590 and love it. If UPS won’t bring it down your drive way, it’s not all that heavy. You can easily put it on a dolly or something along those lines to get it where you need it.

Was your 590 delivered UPS? My understanding is that they'll only ship up to the 340 UPS - anything larger comes on a semi with a liftgate.

I think it was more of a box truck... it had a lift gate on it for sure

My 590 was delivered via Estes. It wasn’t a 53’ trailer, but slightly smaller. Maybe 40ish? You can contact RT and work something out on delivery if you think you may encounter some potential problems.

Folsom

Sportsmam’s Warehouse doesn’t have any GMG in stock, so I guess I’ll have to go Recteq and make some kind of arrangements - maybe meet them in a big parking lot somewhere and throw it in my truck.

My family sells Green Mountain. Store is in Houma so not sure if they’ll go out to Folsom or not. Outside and In - can try calling tomorrow if you’re interested, though I’d assume there is someone closer to Folsom that sells Green Mountain or similar.

Get the Rec-Tec 590 if you need to cook for more than 3-4 people, I bought a 340 and really wish I had gotten the 590. You'll be ok as far as the delivery, call them and see what they might be able to do, their customer service is awesome. Don't talk yourself out getting what you want. I'm definitely prejudice, but IMO the Rec-Tec is the best on the market
