If you like all of your beers brewed with lactose and every random fruit or sweet adjunct you can think of, Gilla is your place. If not, I'd agree to just go to a bar and try all the other great beers we have in the area from Parish, Gnarly Barley, Urban South, etc

So like every other brewery in La

Tin Roof has a great atmosphere (inside and out) to hang out at, but mediocre beer.
Gilla has easily the best beer, but not much atmosphere (Mexican place next door has awesome food you can bring in, though). Gilla’s specialties are lactose IPA’s and fruity sours. However, their stouts and other offerings are good as well when they have them.
Gnarley Barley has very good beer, but it’s all the way in Hammond. I don’t know how the atmosphere is there.
Rally Cap has a really cool setup indoors perfect for watching sports. However, they pretty much only make IPA’s. If you love IPA’s, great. If not, they won’t have much to offer you.
Southern Craft makes garbage beer and has a crap atmosphere to boot. They just suck all the way around.
By region, I’d rank each area’s best beers like so:
NorLa: Great Raft
Cen La: cane river brewery
Acadiana: Parish (although Bayou Teche has better atmosphere)
BR: Gilla (though Tin Roof has better atmosphere)
North shore: Gnarley Barley
NOLA: All Relation (though Urban South has the best atmosphere)

Man, i'd agree with you a year or so ago. But i went this past weekend and everything was really good. Loved the blueberry donut IPA, even though that really isn't my style of beer. Voodoo is the best pale ale in the state, by a wide margin. Had Juke Joint for the first time in a while, and i liked that. Even liked UberFroot. I think there beer has improved incredibly over the past few years.

Maybe if you’re into jumpy houses. I think the atmosphere at urban south sucks big time.

As a parent of kids, who also likes beer... jumpy houses are awesome.

tin roof has yoga babes on Wed and live music on fridays

I go sometimes for the bands, but I avoid yoga Wednesdays since my ex started going.
Mostly, I just don’t like their beer all that much. My favorite beer there is just okay to me, and not something I’d want to keep in my fridge like Gilla Kolsch or Parish Pilsner.

Concur. Urban South's beers are fine but you have to buy them elsewhere, their brewery scene is dreadful

Do they still have the blueberry donut on tap? Heading there this weekend and their website only had 4 beers on tap.

They haven’t had it any of the times I’ve been in the last few months.

They just tapped it last weekend I think. They seem to be doing a lot more one offs.

Well considering the history of canning that is all they should do

It was released last Thursday i believe. It was on tap Saturday. Not sure if any are left, however.
