I am thinking about smoking a pork loin and saw this recipe proclaim that if you smoke the pork loin to IT of 205... it will result in pulled pork

i thought cooking a pork loin past 160 would be dry as shite

If you leave it unwrapped it will be like shoe leather, the recipe calls for it to be wrapped.

i've made asian-style pulled pork using loins in a crockpot multiple times. comes out great.

I've used this recipe before and it's amazing and simple LINK

Aren't pork loins and pork tenderloins two different things? The Slow Cooker Banh Mi Rice Bowl recipe you posted calls for pork tenderloin. Did you use a pork loin with the same recipe and it came out good?

Not sure. But I do know there's more far in a pork loin than a tenderloin.

I got a pork loin earlier in the week on sale at Winn Dixie. I'm going to brine it tonight, then rub and inject it with jerk paste. I'm going to smoke it tomorrow using hickory wood pellets.

But now, I'm curious if I could turn it into pulled pork, and if that would improve it, it just frick it up. I may try that next time when I won't be in a rush to finish it.

I’ve done pork loin in a crockpot that has a window where it can be shredded but still juicy. Mix it with bbq sauce and serve as sliders on rolls.

you will not get pulled pork from a smoked loin, you will get smoked loin (like a pork chop). If you want shredded or pulled and moist pork from a loin you’ll need to braise it

It may be. Though it would be nice to have pulled pork that much healthier.

Nor only a waste of time but money as well I would think a pork loin would be a dollar a pound more than a Butt.

I've tried it, just does not have the texture to shred, was a mess.

I do this with chicken a few times a year. “Pulled Chicken” we call it. Easy dish to make for a group.

Toofs right.
Loin will not give you pulled pork.
Get shoulder.

Cut the loin into 2 inch sections, cook by your preferred method with seasonings until it shreds, and it will approximate pulled pork. Remove the silverskin first. I put in onions/peppers/garlic, salt, and sambol oelek with pork loin trimmings, cook it up, mix with a fork, and is great for tacos, cabbage rolls, eggs, pasta, anywhere you would use shredded chicken.

Real BBQ pulled pork is a different thing altogether. Butts and smoke are required.

I guess I won’t be trying it. Don’t want to ruin it thinking I could have pulled pork in 4-5 hours versus 12+ with a butt or shoulder.

I was skeptical about it when I saw it.

It doesn’t pull - it shreds and is stringy. Loins don’t take a long time to cook and since they are lean I cook them pretty hot and fast.

You can cut nice center cut chops but you can also slice them about 1/2” and pound thin and make good schnitzel. Serve with squeezed lemons.

Sous vide 2” chops then sear. Pork loins are cheap.

Also I cut a 6” or so roast and cook then refrigerate. After cool I slice on an electric slicer real thin and make sliced pork sandwiches with a good vinegar mustard bbq sauce. If you have eaten Hi Ho BBQ this is their pork sandwich.

After smoking these to IT of 150. I prefer 150 over 145.

Going to thinly slice for sliders on Hawaiian slider buns topped with a slaw

Amen brother. Pork loin is super cheap and great if you treat it right. 2 inch cuts sous vide, chill thoroughly, then blacken on both cut ends for restaurant quality dining. Trim it up before cooking. Put the trim in an Instant Pot or slow cooker as above.
