Parrains gets my vote for best value restaurant in BR.. Their 17 dollar range fish dishes are a bargain.

Same owners as the Chimes but they have a real menu.. If your like LL you would probably like Parrains. Not as good but I have never been disappointed.

yeah...i mostly stick to grilled fish at LL and French Market...
i usually stick with Dempsey's when it comes to fried shrimp and catfish just because i'm used to the taste and prefer it now

In the late 80's and early 90's, this was where my family went for "special occasions", which was only twice. We thought it was high class at the time.
I went back for something around five years ago and couldn't help but laugh.

Ralph and Kacco's use to be the best seafood joint in the state now its not in the top 10 in BR. Agree with ther other poster that the one on Airline was awesome. Did Picadilly take it over at one time?

Picadilly bought it for like $25mil ran it into the ground over about a 5-6 year period then sold it for $2mil.
FWIW FYI, I'm related somehow to Kacoo.

Piccadilly took it over in the 90's.
In 99 or 2000 it was sold to Destin Development, the company that owns Louisiana Lagniappe(in Destin and Orange Beach), the Back Porch and about 3 other rest. in Destin.
Then in 2004, it was sold to the parent company of Texas Land and Cattle out of Dallas. The food is better now than 5 years ago, but still nowhere near where it was before Piccadilly.

Ok. I am cracking up
! b/4 I left Mobile some some called old time BR Cajuns said I just had to go to this place. They claimed it was soooo authentic, great, the way seafood should be prepared, ect
Now these people are in their late 60's so I don't want to disrespect them even tho they are "Baton Rouge all knowing & cocky" (they have not lived here for 15 years).
Next time I see them I will just say "I have not yet made it by R&K but ask have they been the La Lag?"
