Doing 3 sacks Saturday. I’ve boiled before but never 3 sacks. I was going to use same water for second sack just add a little more seasoning and taste. And I was going to start from scratch on third sack with all fresh ingredients. This sound about right?

That's what I always do. Usually by the time you are ready for the 3rd sack that water is so dirty I just change it out and start fresh.

I think most on here say that 3 batches is the limit for one pot before changing the water. I do 3 batches every year and never had any issues with dirty water.

I wouldn't bother changing the water for the 3rd batch, unless maybe you were planning on doing a 4th. Seems like a waste to me, but it's up to you.

Save yourself some trouble and just toss them in an ice chest with some Tony's. People swear by it

Yup. For the second we normally add half as much seasoning.

Hell, with a 120 qt. you can do that in just 2 boils. Do 1 1/2 sacks in each boil. I can do a 40 lb. sack in an 80 qt. pot even though it's tight, it's very doable.

You only need 2 batches for 3 sacks. Do a sack and a half in each batch.

I do 2 sacks in a 160qt usually.

I dont Usually changes the water but it’s probably not a terrible idea.

I think The second batch is better but then the dirt/salt maybe get a little much

I usually do 2 boils and dump the water. Add half as much seasoning for the second. If you have really clean crawfish you could maybe get away with a third in the same water. I'd be more receptive to it if you were using all liquid boil instead of the powder.

With a 120 quart you can boil 1 1/2 sacks at a time with no problem. Do it in 2 boils.
