I think I've figured out the very hardest part of working out.. when you fall off the wagon, getting back on.. After my vacation I stopped going to the gym and exercising.. now I've gone the past 2 days and it's miserable all over again.

i'm done. leaving this afternoon to drive back and the fever has now passed. i'm back to being a good boy although i bet i gain 5 lbs from the drive back. what is it with being in a car (or plane) for long periods of time and your body swelling up with water?

I've heard of this before but never really looked it up or anything.

I'm back from the sojourn and +4.5. I don't think its all from the long car drive but hopefully some. Driving for 4 of the 6 hrs in rain was definitely an intense mental workout.

New low. I always do well when Mrs. Wales goes out of town. I am only 12 lbs away from my original goal of 250. I would really like to be there by the time I go to the beach in July.

I've started reading a book by the guy that runs marksdailyapple.com - Mark Sisson. His book is about the primal way of eating and living. The exercise he recommends is interesting and quite the opposite of what I have been doing and believing is best.. His guidelines are:
1) Move frequently as a slow pace. Walk at a reasonable pace 3-5 hours per week.
2) Lift heavy things. Twice a week incorporate an intense lifting session no longer than 30 minutes, compound lifting (bench, squats, deadlifts, shoulder presses) and..
3) Once or twice a week incorporate sprints. It makes sense in the way he explains it.. Primal homo sapiens mostly walked and gathered fruits and veggies. They'd only sprint to get away from danger or when hunting animals, and if they hunted big game they didn't have to do it often. And they had to lift heavy objects to get to various places and/or gather mushrooms and other things. It's an interesting read.

Hulk, I loosely follow his guidelines. Although I do run and that's not really his deal except for sprints. Although my running is probably moving slow for some people. Oh and I stick to compound lifts. Check out stronglifts or starting strength. I do strong lifts and love it. It focuses on squats and going below parrallel. Seriously, I can feel a huge difference after one month. I like his philosophy although I tend to be more liberal with things.
