Maintained from yesterday. Did day two of couch to 5K. I feel like I did pretty good, left the wife behind, she had to walk the rest of the way after the third run. Yesterday was much better than the first as far as my side stitches were concerned. The first time I had eaten not long before running and I know my breathing wasn't right. So yesterday after doing research I slowed down a bit and really focused on controlling my breathing and my technique. Made a huge difference.

Now I'm really feeling like getting back in the gym. I was very big into weight lifting in high school but just haven't been able to do it since. Back then it was all about the competition. I know I've lost a lot of my strength from then and I don't really have anyone to compete with.

Feeling great today and hoping I can continue to get closer to my goal. Have to say that since Ive been running every morning before work has been great because Im ready to get going once I get in the office. Being on the road all day does suck when it comes to trying to eat healthy though.

Start packing a cooler with some healthy foods.Even the healthy stuff on the road has too much sodium for my taste.

Ok I have to remember to weigh in tomorrow.

One of my coworkers has been doing paleo and crossfit for about a year and has lost something around 140 pounds. Just posted up on FB that he's under 200 now. If I don't have a loss or anything close to it, I'm gonna be really deflated. I haven't cheated in 3 weeks at least, have been working out, etc. So frustrating.

He's lost almost double as I in a shorter amount of time. I'm really happy for him but I wish I could lose a little more quickly. Almost makes me want to go back to keto levels of carbs and see how recovering and such goes after lifting to see if it's doable.

Green is an ugly color on me

He also doesnt drink. If i didnt drink, i would have hit my goal a long time ago. I usually have to play catch up til about wednesday or thursday after a big drinking weekend, which are far too common. in addition to that, he works out religously which is something that i do none of. What is his goal weight?

True, not liking alcohol would have helped me lose a looooooot more over the course of time I'm sure. That crossfit training is no joke... They are intense, he has worked his arse off (literally). I don't know what his goal is... I can't imagine it being too much lower. Maybe 180ish? He's fairly tall and seems to be in pretty good shape from what I can tell.

Hulk, dont fall into that trap of comparing yourself to someone else. You didn't get to where you are now by doing it the wrong way. Keep your workouts going strong and it will come. I'm still doing the 20-30 carbs a day and then weekend cheats and its steadily coming off.

This is basically what I do. I try to limit my beer consumption during the week, but it tends to get out of hand on the weekends, especially with swimming season here.

I don't do cheats every weekend, but my almost guaranteed cheat each week is chips and salsa at Las Palmas.

I don't mean to 'compare' myself, I just feel like what I'm doing is inefficient if someone else can lose that much that fast. But everyone's body is different.. Different genetics.. some people lose easier than others. Just sucks.

Everyone acts like I take 50 million supps lol

I take a protein shake and a pre-workout currently. About to cycle back onto a different thermogenic. The rest is perfectly normal stuff. Multivitamin, fish oil, etc. The first round of thermogenics helped me shave off 4% body fat, from 36 to 33. The 2nd round did 32 or 33 to 28. I guess I just put muscle on at the same time..

eta

And fwiw my coworker takes the same shite I do.

This isn't a race. And as that song says, we are only racing against ourselves.

Just keep doing what you are doing and you will get to your goal.

On the other hand, I seem to be exploding.

Hang in there guys, you guys have already come very far, further than many people ever will. I'm serious when I say you guys in this thread have been an inspiration.

I know most of you here don't lift but has anyone here had any experience with stronglifts.com? It seems legit, it focuses mainly on the olympic lifts and really nothing else. It starts you out doing practically nothing and has you adding five pounds each workout and doing five sets of five of each lift except for deadlifts which are one set of five. Then as you start to reach your limits it changes up the number of sets. I'm really intrigued by this and it sorta mirrors the workout my football coach had us doing in high school that worked very well for me.

And do you know if these same results, or even better, could happen naturally?

you're on a high protein diet, do you really need protein supplements as well? You know a lot of people just eat high protein meals and don't take supplements? They get enough with the food.

I mean i know you are making progress, but that is why you are not losing pounds. You're going to end up being one of those "fat swole" people. All your muscle will be hidden under the fat and the scale and your physique will not reflect your hard effort..

cardio, body weight exercises, low weight/high reps. Those are your best bets. Unless you are trying to be a powerlifter. All the supplements are not necessary at this point. You're big enough to just do it naturally and the pounds will shed. Ive been though it. With a personal trainer. Just my opinion.

what is his body type? does he even know what he is doing?

Well I guess the above post kept everyone away from the thread this morning.

Lost .4. Rolling along. I'm handling this slowdown of weight loss better than I thought I would. I'll be a month in on Sunday, that's the longest I've ever stuck to a diet\eating plan.

I do low weight high reps. 12-15 reps, 2-3 sets. And the new routine I have includes days of body weight exercises and plyometrics and cardio, although I admit my old routine did not. And my diet is not much higher in protein than most people's. The biggest difference in carb vs low carb is fat intake. I take more fat in than protein or carbs. So yes, to put on lean muscle I still need a protein shake. The shakes also aid in recovery.

His body type was very obese, he was around 340 pounds and has lost 140 pounds in the last year. Crossfit and paleo dieting. He's gotten a lot leaner, although losing so much weight so fast means he's got some extra skin there.

To be honest, I've been lacking in sleep the past few days while trying to adjust from a night schedule to a day schedule, and when I'm sleep depraved I usually turn into a whiner. I'm fine today. I know I'm getting results, and eventually I'll get where I want to be.. just takes time.

im just speaking from personal experience. I was that big once after HS and playing football (295), and started working with a personal trainer and a nutritionist. And never once did they recommend any supplement at the weight i was at. it was counter productive to my overall goal, and frankly a waste of money. So yea, roll your eyes all you want. I actually had professional help, not another fatass in the office taking the same thing.
