Jesus christ CAD! Use MyFitnessPal. You won't have the GPS to measure how far you've ridden with it, but you have the GPS app and you can input data from it into MyFitnessPal
i already talked 2 co-workers into creating account at 'myfitnesspal' and i haven't even created one yet
i cant get completely away from the other sites..i'm in training for racing season and i'm much to anal-retentive to give up my wattage charts and stuff. too much fun to endlessly overanalyze the data here.
however i'm going to *sigh* add your site to my list of daily site updates. hell in the time i've wasted here in the last hour i could have already plugged in everything i ate today.

oh..get this guys. i posted this on the 'bread' thread below but completely forgot to mention it here.
in the past..cyclists are NOTORIOUS eaters of sugary/carb loaded sweets on rides along with GIGANTIC KING-SIZE meals of pasta the night before a big race. the idea being you have to constantly replenish your glycogen stores so you don't 'bonk' on a ride...a practice affectionately known as 'carboloading'.
however, the latest cycling journals (yes..these exist) i've been reading have thrown this advice under the bus and are now recommending...
..wait for it..
eating LOW CARB the week leading up to a major race so the cyclist's metabolism will shift into a fat-burning mode so they can ride harder longer without having to stuff their face and risk bonking the entire time they're racing!
I love it. the funny thing is..i raced years ago following a low carb diet..and i was ridiculed the entire time..everyone told me 'dude..you cant eat low carb and race..you will go slow'. well i didnt win (also didnt train well) but i finished mid-pack in all the races i did..and i did it without eating sugary shite during the ride so i dindt have the same 'ups and downs' as the people i was riding with.
anyway..i am VINDICTED! now even fitness/coaches are recognizing perhaps the constant sugar high/crash isn't as good on our bodies as everyone thought...the little cartoon in fathead that shows how insulin attacks sugar vs. your body using your naturally stored fat as fuel pretty much nails what is going on. why torture your body with constant insulin/suagar spikes as part of your training?? seems really dumb when yo uthyink about it.

ANYWAY
257/201.4/185
199 still elusive..i cant really count what i saw when i was out of town because the scales were different so the 201 is a new "official" low for me.

2 week weigh-in
265/255/190
By the way, on Lester's question earlier about going off Atkins, no diet works forever if we go back to our old habits. That's not to say you can't enjoy yourself and even pig out occasionally. I think the key is monitoring it and recognizing when you've gained 3-5 lbs instead of waiting until you've gained 35 lbs.

not be OT' but i've always been a fan of bonking.
on topic, what do you recommend as a carb cap. I've been hovering around 150 a day but could easily cut that in half. I'm just prone to hypoglycemic episodes if I'm too low for too long.

I'm hypoglycemic and once my body kicked into ketosis I have 0 problems. When your body is burning fat for fuel your sugar levels will remain constant. I'm still limited to 20g per day, but by next monday I'm going to start bumping it up.

THIS!!!!!!!!!
i remember hulk mentioning this way back when he first started and i kind of chuckled to myself because i knew that would go away (along with tons of other health problems) once he changed his eating habits.

bham is very wise. bingo. this is all there is to it. its not magic.
2 words can sum up what needs to happen 'after atkins' so you dont regain weight

It comes down to the scale.
I think most people hide their scale in the deepest dark corner of their homes when they reach their goal. Mainly so they can pretend things are fine even as buttons pop off their jeans.
You have to keep getting on that damn thing.

God damnit it's been a pain in the arse to get a hold of an insurance agent from my neighbor's insurance. Still waiting

1. If walking is good for your health, the postman would be immortal.
2. A whale swims all day, only eats fish, drinks water and is fat.
3. A rabbit runs and hops and only lives 15 years.
4. A turtle doesn’t run, does nothing .. yet lives for 450 years.
Stolen from a blog I just read.

Personally, I enjoy this guy's outlook more than any other.
LINK
He's not dogmatic about dieting, he's not selling anything, and he's open to changing his mind about certain things. He also has some very interesting (some pretty controversial) blog postings.

They told me it would take between 48 and 72 HOURS to get a call back to FILE a claim. That is ridiculous. I have to hitch rides to work because their insurance company is HORRIBLE? I'm beyond pissed. I was so pissed earlier I was shaking. I called my own insurance company and had a claim in 30 minutes, and then an hour later someone else called me to confirm the claim. Meanwhile I have to wait DAYS to file a claim with the insurance company that is going to pay for my damages? The company is out of Georgia, can you imagine how damned long it's going to take for them to send an adjustor/estimator person? FFS man this SUCKS.

Thanks for the link. Been reading it for over an hour now.
ETA: I'll guess I'll have to change my sig quote to a carb-free one.

By the way guys, I had a freakin' Atkins feast last night:
boiled shrimp (made a decent dip with mayo, horseradish, and hot sauce)
prosciutto
4 cheeses (3 were 0 carbs, 1 was 1 carb)
green olives
pickled okra
spring mix salad
Great meal. In fact, it may well have been the perfect Atkins meal. I've always loved cheese plates. In fact, I would often order the cheese plate in nice restaurants while everyone else had dessert.

Sounds freaking amazing Bham! I had some pork chops that were phenominal, just put a little tony's, a little onion powder, basil, and a mix call "rudy's rub" and cooked them on the good 'ol george foreman for about 8 minutes.

love me some rudy's rub. good stuff. I need to grill some pork chops soon.
This weekend, I think I'll use some of the remaining prosciutto and fontina cheese to stuff some chicken breasts.
