Yea make your choice, you can go low carb( will help cravings once your body switches to fat as the fuel), you can carb cycle, or you can go balanced with a if it fits your macros type diet.

If you are not willing to weigh and track food then you will have to go zero carb.

If you absolutely can't and won't give up carbs then go the if it fits your macros road, but you are going to have to weigh and track everything.

Many of us here also practice intermittent fasting as we find it helps with diet adherence.

But overall you are going to have to make the choice to commit to this. I find most people in this thread that plateau or fail tend to do so because they are not willing to sacrifice and they fell to plan. If you fail to plan you plan to fail, period. We call it food prep Sunday for a reason.

I would highly suggest you take up weight lifting, it's the single best thing you can do for your health and future, even if it's just two days a week. Or take up a body weight calastinics program.

If none of this sounds appealing, I understand. If you are not willing to sacrifice but still won't to lose weight, try this. Keep your diet the same, and do the following:

1) drink 100oz water a day
2) don't eat breakfast at all( no calories til lunch)
3) when you eat, take a bite, then put your fork down, wipe your mouth with a napkin and take a sip of water, count to 20 and then take another bite.Do this after every single bite.

You will lose weight as the water will curb your hunger and you will be eating much slower which will allow you body time to tell you when you are full. If you have 40 pounds or more to lose I can guarantee this will work for the first 20 or 30 lbs.

Hulk you should try this method too if you are going to continue to do iifym.

For those that like to drink do the following

1) stick to shots or mixed with no calorie drink of straight liquor preferably vodka, tequila or whiskey.
2) eat 500 cals less that day. You might go over this in shots or you might be under, either way it won't destroy the diet.
3) eat before drinking to the point you are about to pop. Use fiberous veggies to really stuff yourself. Preferably making this your only meal of the day.

If you like to go out to dinner, use the slow eating technique but also make that your only meal of the day. No way you will be able to go off the rails too much calorie wise if you do these techniques.

You definitely sound like a sugar addict. You don't need to go low carb to beat a sugar addiction, but it does help. That may be the best way for you to go right now.

As always, solid advice.

quote:

1) drink 100oz water a day

I drink a gallon just at work most days. I used to keep a 64oz bottle by my desk but it was a little too cumbersome so I have a 32oz one now that I fill 4x/day.

3) when you eat, take a bite, then put your fork down, wipe your mouth with a napkin and take a sip of water, count to 20 and then take another bite.Do this after every single bite.

I definitely eat WAY too fast, and when I'm in situations where I inadvertently eat slower (i.e. holding a conversation) I fill up way faster. Great advice.

A good idea, alternatively when in the restaurant immediately ask for a to-go box and put away literally half or more of whatever it is on your plate.

Yeah, I know that I need to cut out the sugar. I've just been half-assing it. But the older I get, the more I have to actuallly accept it and cut it out.

For me, the lower carb I can go, the better off I'll be probably.

My annual physical is in june. Want to see how much weight I can lose before then. I'm going to try and be at least 30 pounds down by then. That's roughly 1.5 pounds a week.

I keep my daily sugar intake below 30g from all sources. It's really tough at first because sugar is in EVERYTHING, but if you're used to cooking your own food you're way ahead of the curve already.

I do so much better when I cook and bring my lunch to work. Easy to grab a frozen meal and head out, but I need to be better about cooking and bringing it with me.

You honestly might want to try a fat fast or rapid fat loss type diet for two weeks so you get a head start. It will help kill the sugar cravings and jump start weight lost like crazy.

Neither are for the faint at heart but they do give you a big leg up on the competition and really help with motivation. I would say for a female the fat fast is easier.

And honestly start lifting, especially as a female it is huge for your future health.

Honest question concerning the lifting, it might not be your thing but honestly when you are 65 or 70 do you want somebody to have to help you down to the toilet or do you want to be able to shite in piece? Hate to put it that bluntly but it's the simple facts.

Just head to the wiki page for Carbohydrate and hit Control F to "find on page" ... type in glucose and see that it comes up 39 times.

Sounds like another Halo Top miracle in the making

I'm the same way...I don't keep it in the house, and if I have a craving that hits really bad; that's when I'll go buy a pint (or 5) of halo top and throw in the freezer to eat in a week (if there's 5 pints, a night if it's a single)

Looking into this, Whole Foods does sell pork bellies that are awesome. I found a whole slab but am unsure if it is uncured. I try to keep it around $60-80 a week on food for myself. Not a budget thing, but a challenge thing. I get away with $45 right now. My wallet likes Trader Joe's wine and my new cheap-bastard way of shopping.

Don't be shy around here. Old poster used to post start weight/current/goal weight like 250/235/200 nearly everyday. I am sure that will start up in the new year.

Make time to cook lunch for the week. Not only do you have control of your food, it is cheaper. Crock pots or dutch ovens are money here.

I know they have it at Kroger and I am sure at Trader Joe's for sure. It's simply bacon but uncured and it last forever too. Takes forever to go bad

Unfortunately in BR the only place I've seen bacon without sugar is at Whole Foods and it's expensive af. Traders Joe's uncured bacon even has sugar.

Or buy pork belly, ofc

Damn that sucks. There are places you can order it off the internet too.

By the way some of you guys, especially those that like all cuts of beef, should really look into some of the farms listed on eatwild.com in your area. You can buy quarter, half or whole cows, some offer pigs the same way and chickens too. All free range grass fed for much cheaper than the store. If you have a deep freezer, smoker and a crock pot consider it. At least keep it in mind for future reference.
