Usually salt, pepper, minced garlic and juice, and a splash of Dale's:
I used to be a hater. One try and a true believer.
If it's a cheap cut, that stuff will save the day and then some.

Well you clicked reply on my post, so I think you can see why there's some confusion.

I never marinate steak (but I only buy ribeye, strip, or filet). I melt butter, Worcestershire (sp?), garlic and Tony's and baste the steak as it cooks.

1/2 cup balsamic vinegar , 1/2 cup worcestershire, 1/4 cup red wine, 1/4 cup of soy and some ground mustard and not high quality meats. On high quality sea or kosher salt and cracked black pepper only.

This and sprinkle some Don's specialty meat seasoning when you put it on the grill

I know I know. Food and drink board. But those guys are slow. I'm ready to get the OT opinion on their favorite. I have a few, but I wanna try something different.

If you need to flavor up your steak you are doing it wrong.

Salt and pepper about 3 minutes before hitting the grill

Lol at all the steak experts on here. "sea salt and pepper, if that.". Talk about pretentious.

you must buy shitty steak for it to have to be marinated
THIS! If we get cheap steaks for some reason, then I use Dale's.

I just don't think one truly enjoys a good steak if you feel the needs to put all sorts of seasonings on it.. even less so if you want steak sauce.
On cheap cuts, okay I get it. But on a GOOD piece of meat, you're messing with something that's already damn near perfection

I hope you don't marinade anything but cheap cuts..
Maybe we should define cheap cut. If I buy select it's getting a marinade. I will occasionally marinate choice depending on the cut (sirloin-almost always, ribeye-rarely, filet-rarely) and what I'm in the mood for. Prime cuts salt and pepper only, maybe a little garlic butter when I flip it.

Instead of a marinade, Tony's as a rub...is great.
Too much salt in Tonys for me. I prefer to regulate my own salt intake, but I do agree with the dry rub being a better answer than a liquid marinade.

Be careful guys, this thread's being monitored by SFP to show the OT our pretentiousness because the majority of food boarders don't believe in marinating a good cut
