They're not grown in a garden?

They use lard. He says if you put hot dogs into a food processor and then add to the beans they will TASTE LIKE Popeyes. He doesnt say Popeyes does that.
And I've tried it and it's pretty close. Also, add a stick of butter at the end of cooking time to make them richer and creamier. He says that and I always do that and it's true as well.

I love them and nope, no matter how they make them it would not scare me off.
For years I have been screaming for them to add a dinner version with a link of sausage. I like them better than any place on the planet including home cooked red beans.
Of course thanks to my diet, I've has popeyes once in the last 14 months.

Not true. They are a meatless recipe created by food scientist and chef Warren Leruth.

By 1973, his restaurant was being touted in "The New Orleans Underground Gourmet" guidebook as "a culinary miracle . . . one of the finest eating places in the world." Reservations were required months in advance and the restaurant became a favorite of such celebrities as Walter Cronkite and Yul Brynner.
Leruth also had success as a research chef and menu consultant, credited with helping to develop Seven Seas salad dressings and signature items for national chains, including Popeye's and Church's.

LeRuth's was at the top in 1973. I never had a bad meal there, though I ate there only a few times. I was told the recipe was developed by Paul Proudholme (sp). Oh well!

Gotta love red beans being that far down the list.

They make vagisil for secretions, there is no similar product for a hot dog. That is why you should only buy a kosher dog.

A friend of mine in New Orleans makes a meatless red beans and rice that taste exactly like Popeyes. She uses ham stock that comes in a cube like chicken bouilon(sp). You can find it in most stores in Baton Rouge. I think Knorr makes it. I can't find it anywhere here in Montgomery.
