because the wholesaler buys every day. the public demand is weekend based, nobody buys mon, tues, and weds, except the wholesaler. the fisherman likes to get rid of his catch every day.

okay, I can understand that. But roadside stands friday and saturday might be more profitable.

Maybe with more people doing that the wholesalers crawfish may become scarcer and raise the price for yall

Damn it...my dad called me last week and said that it was going to be a good year for crawfish..... Over here in Dallas we average paying about $2.50 for field runs in the height of the season.....guess its gonna be $3.50 this year....

Yea but then they dont fish everyday then the prices go WAY up too? I think people would love to buy direct.. I dont know many people that would think they have to pay more to go to a wholeseller they like.

Fishermen/farmers aren't getting rich. I don't fault them for doing whatever they need to do to make a decent living.

Farmers/Fishermen who catch quality crawfish make plently of money. The people who catch junk crawfish tend to be the ones who cry the loudest. The problem right now is there are very few quality crawfish being caught that is why the price is high and supply short. The cold weather the last few 10 days has hurt the few ponds that were producing.
