My wife really wants to go or we would not be going. I’ve not had an urge to get back out there due to nature of the surrounding environment. It’s also why I’m so apprehensive about doing an AirBnB instead of a hotel. I have no clue what isn’t over run by the insanity.

Chill the frick out. It's a great place to visit. New Orleans is many times nastier.

Just a warning for your AirBnb - In SF, they're commonly a converted place down attached to the garage (which is under street level). They don't use A/C in many places in SF and since the windows opened to the garage instead of the outdoors, I had no air whatsoever. Miserable

Nobody needs A/C in San Francisco right now.

We stayed in the tenderloin and it was homeless and drug addict central

That's what you get for staying in the Tenderloin. Who doesn't know what the Tenderloin is?

Just talked to a guy in Oakland...says he rarely goes into SF.Too much crap in the streets and crime. True story.

And some people are going to believe that.

I've been in South Texas since 2012 and lived here for a few years in the 90s also.

I do like some Tex Mex but California Mexican is much better from my experience in l.a. county.

Depends on where you are. I watched a guy run down mission street in SoMa butt naked on the sidewalk, stop, take a shite, then wipe with newspaper. Walking through FiDi back to my hotel, I had to walk around another big pile of shite. The further west we went, you didn't really see many homeless people at all, and the ones we did see kept to themselves and didn't really bother anyone. Hung out in Haight Ashbury all day one day then walked to El farolito in the mission for burritos that evening and it was perfectly fine.
