Hah. It was the farmers market on Finley. Apparently that's where your Alabama State Farmer's Market is located.

I ended up getting lost and falling upon Ollie Irene in Mountain Brook at the suggestion of a buddy. Just sat down and ordered boudin balls and a Westbrook IPA. Will let you know how it turns out.

If so, I would definitely suggest Nikki's West for lunch

Is a must if you are over that way already for lunch. One of the better meat and three's I've ever been to.

Pepper Place is a neat little place in a great location. If that is where the Farmer's Market is then he'll already be within walking distance to Highlands Bar & Grill and most of the nicer restaurants located in the Southside area.

I throw out the Fish Market as a lunch option as well. I feel like it gets unfairly overlooked by locals because it's a more casual option but they have some really good fresh seafood dishes. Another one of the seemingly endless number of Greek owned restaurants in the Bham area.

1. already established he was talking about Farmer's Market on Finley
2. Pepper Place is walking distance from Highlands, but I wouldn't suggest walking since you would be leaving the restaurant well after dark. Right around 5 points is a nice walking area in Bham. Other than that, no way I walk anywhere in Bham proper after the big light goes out.

Any opinions on the Fish Market? Admittedly I tend to stick with a favorite dish when I find one at a restaurant and that place had one of the best seafood pasta dishes I've ever had. Huge portions too so I always had leftovers when leaving there.

I haven't been since they totally redid the original location and then added the one on 280. It used to reek of a fish market smell and wasn't good.

I've never been to the newly remodeled downtown location but I've heard they added a huge aquariam and the restaurant is supposed to be much nicer. The only location I've ever been to is the one near the Galleria. That location isn't much to look at but they had carry out and I usually just called an order in and picked it up. I can't speak for the rest of the dishes there but the one dish I typically got was pretty solid.

Yep. The downtown location is the original and the location near the Galleria has been around since at least the mid 1990s. The Highway 280 location is by far the newest one.

Ate at 280 a year or more ago. Wasn't at all impressed. Over marinated and over cooked fish. I'd recommend Chuck's which is literally across the street.

I hear pretty good things about the Chuck's in Tuscaloosa but haven't been. I had heard they opened one in the Bham area as well. For full disclosure I alway got the shrimp and scallop fettucine alfredo from The Fish Market so I can't speak for their fish. I need to try Chuck's Fish at some point as it seems to get pretty good reviews.

That location is very good. Most of the others suck.
