Sure you have.
And people have used the barrel in competitions too. Not really sure the point you're trying to make here.

Have you ever seen a BBQ restaurant that uses Pit Barrel Cookers before?
No, you haven’t. Not sure what the hell that has to do with the PBc putting out good smoked meat

The quote I responded to was:

I guess all the great reviews from people that do BBQ for a living are just full of shite.
People don't use a pit cooker design in competition or for restauarants, so the reviews are questionable at best. The WSM is just a vertical smoker which many teams and restaurants use the same design.

That a WSM is a superior tool for smoking meat.

And you base this on what? Is it the most popular? No, but people do use them in competition. And it's still completely irrelevant

No one has said it isn't.
Nothing worse than a BBQ snob.

I compete and attend competitions and have never seen one used. I know a lot of BBQ teams and don't know one team that uses one in competition.

Still completely irrelevant to whether or not barrel BBQ is disgusting.

That's hyperbole. I was just responding to the idea that BBQ proffessionals endorse the PBC. It is a fine tool for direct heat cooking and faster/easier for backyard cooking, but from a BBQ perspective it is limited.

Not according the the person in this thread which is what we're discussing.

Limited to what? I've had great results with everything from chicken to brisket. No one is claiming it is the best. We are discussing what the snob that is saying it's disgusting and you have no taste for bbq if you like it is claiming.

Far superior and I own a pbc.

Top restaurants and chefs also don’t use sous vide precision cookers but that doesn’t mean they aren’t a great tool for in home use
Same with the PBC. PBC may not be the best smoker out there but it puts out great tasting food. I think you have missed the conversation at hand

Are you kidding? Top restaurants definitely use sous vide cooking. The anova and others made it to home chefs from the commercial setting, the same way the WSM made it into backyards from the commercial setting in the early 80's.

If it put out better tasting BBQ than a conventional vertical smoker, then competitors and restaurants would use the same design (just larger ones for commercial applications).

And the conversation you decided to interject yourself into with the snobby comments moved on from that. I get reading is hard when you're trying to be a snob about something, but maybe try it next time.
I'll take the opinion over meathead over nameless weekend warrior any day of the week.
ETA: OP seems to be interested in need to tinker to keep the temps right, so the WSM is the easy choice. PBC doesn't need any of that so it won't give him the experience he wants. But the PBC doesn't put out "disgusting" bbq, and that;s the conversation happening now.

Ok, so back on topic then: PBC or WSM?

So maybe stop being critical of me for trying to redirect the conversation back to the actual quesiton posed instead of engaging in an off topic conversation of whether PBC food is disgusting.
From a BBQ perspective and not a convenience factor:
WSM > PBC.

Hey man do this.
Google pit barrel cooker and grease fog. Read some of the discussions, you'll see what i'm talking about.
The pbc has some good applications but none include smoking, unless you're smoking something that doesn't excessively drip.
Excessive drip causes creosotey grease smoke. Acrid smoldering fat. Very unappetizing.
You don't want it.
If you get one, it's fantastic for hanging mass quantities of wings and up to 4 chickens cut in half at high heat. I have a great method for hanging mass quantities of wings and cooking them in the 400 to 450 range. At that temp, you don't have to care about grease fog because the meat isn't just bathing in it at low temps.

Right, it's my fault you didn't follow a conversation.

I'd be the 5% of people that have anything negative to say about the PBC are all you with different usernames.
The overwhelming majority of opinion on forums and reviews is that they are great cookers. It's not close at all.
