That is why I put it in qoutations. A large family with young adults and kids paid thier doctors bills to my parents with produce for years. We as kids learned how to clean and prep food for immediate meals or canning. At another place I was the top branch tree monkey for figs.

That's really an impressive spread.
I could never do anything like that because my property is heavily wooded. No sun. I'm restricted to planting in containers and then I have to move the containers to catch sunlight during the day.

Probably about 20 acres. Yeah, it's mostly an orchard, not a garden. I'll get some more pics of the actual garden.

I can't wait to have the free time to maintain a good garden properly. I had a small one but had to leave for worn and everything died.

I went to a place around Natchez years ago with a pecan orchard about a mile plus long and six or seven trees wide at least. The Bergeron family must have a contract with that place.

The breed of farmers that grew produce for generations around this nation has died off or been driven out of business. That forty acre orchard above is extremely rare these days. Large corporations now control everything on your plate unless there is a good place selling local produce to visit.

Get every bit of mulchable material that you can whenever you can. It is weed control and moisture conservation for your plants at the same time. The word "straw" in strawberries is from the use of pine straw or other mulch around the plants for many years to protect them from freezes.

And make the kids pick weeds, before they can 'go play'

Like my great grandmother use to do!

Unplupug all of the toys they use at home to play with after school and lock them up. Tell them doing chores each afternoon will get them pulled out on the weekends. Expect a call from child protective services after one calls them up to report your evil arse.
