yes, the publix in fairhope had the best selection (on the left just before you take the right into town). i found greer's to be hit-or-miss. sometimes they had some bell's but often they didn't. i called the fresh market in mobile on our way and they told me they usually had it in stock so it might be worth it to drop by on your way into town.
enjoy your trip. i'm craving some jesse's and camellia cafe right now.

you won't be disappointed if you go. my wife swears it's the best food she has ever eaten (and she's kind of a food snob)

Pretty much what everyone else has said. Sierra Nevada is far and away the best one there. Newcastle and Shiner aren't bad, but they are the very tip of an iceberg that has so much goodness underneath.
As for the other three,

That blueberry beer tastes like crap

I feel like Shiner gets a bad rap here on the board. I know its not the best but its at least solid. Shiner bock was my first journey away from the big three though, so maybe I'm just being sentimental. Their black lager, hefeweizen, and some of the seasonals are pretty good. I'm really liking their Wild Hare pale ale right now.

if you are someone that typically doesn't stray from coors/miller/bud type beers, this is a solid collection of "gateway" beers. as others have said, the best one is the SN (good beer) but, again, not a bad sampler if you are newly expanding your horizons.
i put Shiner bock, abita amber, and SA boston lager, among others, in the "gateway" beer category. these beers, as you describe, will be the first venture for many outside of the coors/miller/bud box. abita amber played that role for me many years ago. i'll always view it nostalgically and enjoy one on occasion but not a beer i find interesting anymore.
i really like pale ales but i found this one to be below average. just didn't enjoy it.

SN Pale Ale is good.
That blueberry beer is horrible!
The rest are average at best.

the Black is my favorite brew by Shiner. Had the Wild Hare last night for the first time and thought it was good. Prob the 2nd best beer I've had from them. I enjoy the Kosmos as well
Posted on 6/19/12 at 9:02 am to mmill32
Kosmos is pretty good. Not easy to find, but I haven't really searched for it either.
The best thing about shiner bock and abita amber is their availability. Decent beer that can save you from only having bud in a lot of places. Gateway craft beers is a pretty good description.

Newcastle and Shiner Bock are two of my favorite gateway beers and I still enjoy them often.
Unlike others here, I'm not a big fan of SN Pale Ale. It's drinkable, but not a favorite.
I haven't tried the others, but I'm not a huge fan of fruity beers.
