You go to Luger’s just to say you went to Luger’s. There are better steakhouses in New York, and I agree with the sentiment that you can get a great steak anywhere, so don’t waste a meal at a steakhouse in nyc.

Go to LeBernardin ...it's consistently rated the best restaurant in the city! You can get a good steak all over the US!

Glad to hear it. Did you or anyone in your party get the mutton chops? When I go into a chop house I get a one-tracked mind and get steak but my wife lets the servers influence her heavily. When we eat out at a new place we always switch dishes halfway through and I am glad she got the mutton, it was otherworldly.

You are getting a large serving of DVs but I agree. I would even argue on most days it isn't the best destination dining city in the US. It would be #1 in the US if I ate out every night with an unlimited expense account but unless you are there often enough to get tired of the handful of top restaurants there are other US cities that rate when you are only counting the top few. While it isn't quite as easy to say since Redd closed I would choose Napa over NYC for a once every year or few years trip with dining as the main reason.
