If it weren't for the impotence that comes with buying a pellet oven, I might believe that

ETA: Just realized OP referred to different species of wood as "flavors"

So is taking it too seriously.

Best man for my wedding has a pellet grill. I like telling him happy Mother’s Day as a result. Ain’t that serious.

Pellets don’t put a ton of smoke into meat,

I get plenty. Smoking chicken thighs as I read this thread. Clean blue smoke for days.

Also, I don’t get the “oven” thing that some people on this site try to slander my smoker with. Why would it be an oven?

They will just say its in good fun, to me it’s pretty petty. Kinda reminds me when I have conversation with liberals and when we don’t agree they just start yelling.

I think that started since they require a power source. I will gladly admit that my BGE puts more smoke flavor into a brisket, but my Traeger is a hell of a lot easier and can still make a solid brisket.

Back to topic, I can’t taste any difference but can tell when hickory is smoking.

If you use an offset stick burner and a DigiQ it’s basically the same thing. My smoker has no other heat source than the combustion.

Settle down, Tiger! I didn't make fun of your grill. I simply offered an explanation for why OP cannot distinguish the aromatic difference in his pellet varieties.

You're making this way too personal.

I am curious about those charcoal pellets though.

If you leave pellets in your hopper for long periods of time the charcoal pellets are for you. They resist moisture pretty well.

Ive tried several different ones on the Traeger and I cannot taste any difference.

To start off don't use Traeger pellets. They are flavored not real 100%. I use Lumberjack Hickory for everything I smoke.

Yes, the real wood smokers puts out a better smoke, but they are a pain in the arse to use. I rather relax and drink some cold beers instead of constantly adjusting the smoker.

Lay off of them, toof. Try to empathize a bit. Imagine spending many years and dollars honing your BBQ skills, only to have someone buy a pellet grill and watch a video that can already make a brisket as good as yours. It’s tough to swallow. Demeaning you is all they have to hold onto.

My dad has always been a bbq master. Then about 5 years ago he got a pellet grill. Not that I'll ever tell him, but his Q game has suffered because of it. Just doesn't have the flavor. But he loves the damn thing so, and he's old, so whatever

Because we're decades long buds who like to give each other shite??

Again, this ain't all that serious. I actually upvoted your meme above. My mediocre BBQ persona doesn't get offended.

First of all, you replied to me with your Bill Lumbergh meme so yeah, I thought your comments were addressed to me.

Secondly, You're putting way too much value in what some anonymous people on the internet think about your grill? Who cares if you cook with sawdust, as long as you like it.

Third, I don't own a stick burner, I have a charcoal oven (gravity smoker) because I like to set it and forget it too.
