I can also read that the statement says that they were already brewing the batch when the post was made on Nov 19. I can also read that it says "for normal DISTRIBUTION in December.
Well let's look at the timeline.
Say they brew Nov. 19th. Say it takes them 2 days to brew enough to fill up the fermenters. Now it's Nov. 21st/22nd. You then ferment for 10-14 days. So now it's December 3rd through 6th. You then dry hop for 3-7 days. So now it's December 12th. You then carbonate it and bottle condition for another 7 days or longer. So now it's December 19th. This is all assuming everyone's working every day. So that would put you in the middle of the week of christmas and new years. Distributors and wholesalers have family too and might not be working. So, for sanity and common sense sake, early January is perfectly reasonable.
ETA: and this is just from a homebrewers understanding. Commercial brewing processes are more in depth i'm sure.

What was the reason for not distributing the last batch to retail?
Why sell it to someone who charges retail when you can sell for retail markup on your own?

Exactly what I'm thinking. They know they can get rid of it all on their own and not have to "pay the man."
Don't get me wrong, I really like their product so I hope this doesn't ultimately lead to a problem.

That said, if know that some retailers were really pissed about this. Especially some that go out of their way to help them out sometimes (not getting into specifics). I almost wish it would come back to bite them.

Do you think this is a bad thing? They probably get a smaller return on ghost compared to other beers, due to the amount of hops. Business wise, they are eliminating the distributor cost of their beer, while charging the customer the exact same price.

They are going to try and release Ghost monthly. Last year, we got a release once every 3 months or more. Year before that, 2 releases total?
Stop being impatient. Good things come to those who wait.

Damn man. You sound like one unhappy retailer.
Speaking of retailers, some of them price gouge the shite out of the beer and/or sit on it for their regular customers (not getting into specifics )

90/10 rule.

I know specifically something that pissed off a retailer based on a conversation I over heard at this retailer. I just don't think cutting off the people that push your product and have pushed your product when you were first out is a smart move.

if a couple whiney arse stores drop parish beer
Nobody is gonna do that. They're just gonna whine.

I'm not an insider and don't know any retailers, but wasn't this batch from day 1 going to be brewery only?
This also seems to be the start of an increased volume of ghost from here forward.
If these two are true, retailers really didn't miss out on anything imo.

Or some of them hold the beers over for their friends and allow them to purchase over the allotment, but that's none of my business....
And i completely agree with you. I hope it does hold true and they increase their production in a fashion of the way three floyds produces zombie dust

Only pushing product for them because dumb arse state laws set up that forces it to have to be that way.

But if it was also stated that it was brewery from day 1, I don't see a big deal. It would be different if they said they were brewing a batch and then 3 weeks later said nah it's not going to stores.
Nola taproom has beers there that I can't buy in stores. No biggie.
It seems that people feel that they were slighted with this batch's availability.
To be honest, it isn't your business. That's just how things are imo.
If I owned a business of any kind that occasionally gets a rare consumable or product, you sure as hell better know my friends and best clients are getting first crack at it.

So you condemn retailers that hold product over for regulars? Just curious because you seem to support that idea here?
