La lagniappe is looking like the spot.
I ate at Louisiana Lagniappe the other night, which was the second time. I don't get the praise for this establishment. The first time, I had the fish en papillote, and it was maybe about as good as what I used to order for 2/3 the price from "On The Half Shell", before they closed on Bluebonnet. The second time, I had the tournedos, which also was underwhelming. Three small pieces of all but flavorless beef, two shrimps (which were tasty), and some crab meat. Not even close to worth the money. We also got fried catfish and fries, which were nothing short of awful. The catfish was very thin strips, i.e. mostly breading, very poorly trimmed with probably 30% nasty gray flesh which had to be scraped off. The fries were these terrible hard shoestring things, even worse than those awful "frites" Byronz serves. Even Piccadilly is a better bet for catfish and fries, and it would cost half as much. I won't make the mistake of going back a third time.

I'd vote for Parrains
went there for lunch today. Had the "tobasco mustard marinated catfish. Which I thought was excellent. It came with a side of what I think was their version of potato salad? Which was also really tasty.

The Grapevine in Donaldsonville, awesome BBQ Shrimp. The white chocolate bread pudding is the best.
