I think how your body breaks them down is also a reason for the brown over white.

I like baked sweet potatoes by themselves or in a casserole. Yukon Gold potatoes are good too.

I'm going to say this again.. If you go to Red Stick Farmer's market and pick up Cajun Grain Brown Jasmine Rice, you won't eat white rice anymore. The Brown Jasmine Grits are also insane.

My cousin cooked some up recently.

They weren't really like hashbrowns imo.More like cubed with onions and sauteed in butter with a little cayenne.

pretty damn good tho

Are you asking for what is healthier or what is better to cook with?

Sweet potatoes are possibly the most nutritious thing you can have in your kitchen.

Sweet potatoes are incredible nutritious, and delicious IMO. Lots of things you can do with them in the kitchen. You might also want to check out purple and red potatoes too. Baked potatoes arent terrible, but have a fraction of the nutritional value of other potatoes. White rice has virtually no nutritional value and spikes your gylcemic blood index. Stick to brown or wild rice (or other more exotic whole grains)

Simple carbs (ie white rice and most pototoes) vrs Complex carbs. Your body easily digest & converts simple carbs, using what your body needs for fuel and then storing the rest as fat. It takes the body longer to breakdown complex carbs. Also white rice is basically stripped of most nutrients, including fiber.

White/New Potatoes eaten after an exercise of some sort in most cases can be more beneficial than sweet potatoes, b/c your body needs to replenish quickly and will use the simple carbs instead of the protein.

This is my rough interpretation.
