Onion Loaf in St. Tammany?

You know, the glorious onion loaf, strings of thinly sliced fried onion in a pile. Anywhere to find in the Covington Mandeville area?

This is hands down the best way to eat fried onions. Not a fan of the thick cut ones.

I'm the opposite. I like the breading, but I love the onion, so I'm thick cut all the way.

Chalmette may be too far, but Rocky and Carlos across from the ferry crossing used to make from a BIG onion, one of the finest mounds of thin sliced and fried onions that we ever had the pleasure to enjoy.
We miss them but it would be a ten hour drive for us now.

I've never heard that referred to as an "onion loaf" though. I had no idea what the OP was referencing until I read further.

I recall Ye Olde College Inn in Nola had the classic great and a place in Lakeview, maybe Landry’s (ain’t dere no more)?

Charlie's Steakhouse still does them on point. Ye Olde now serves the thick cut variety.

Luther’s BBQ used to have a damn good onion loaf, too.

We ate there last night. The onion rings were very good and they serve you enough for a fricken army. The rest of the menu was good but not good enough for me to go back.
