Anyone have any passes they may be willing to part with?
Starts tonight, and I haven't checked the schedule yet. Any ones I should not miss?

all the chicago bar tenders are down there for it
here's what zagat chicago had to say:
"Friendly reminder that nearly every bartender in Chicago has made the trip down to New Orleans for Tales of the Cocktail, so we recommend sticking to beer for your Hump Day drinks."

i'm surprised how big an event it has become for out of town bartenders.
new orleans is a better food and drink city than chicago. time to start standing up for yourselves down there.

I have two friends from NYC coming in. Ones a writer who covers the event. The other works for a liquor company. The VIP events are the shite.

Definitely a cool event. It's gotten so big; expanding into other cities and all. I heard that there will probably be less of a local volunteer presence since the permitting got a lot more strict. The liquor used to be donated so volunteers could take home afterwards what wasn't served .. but this year they started a policy where they have to buy the liquor and return what isn't used.
Plus it sounds like a large influx of Chicago and NYC folks coming to town - could also deter / take away from opportunities for locals to participate. May turn this more into the annoyance that has become French Quarter Fest with SO many folks flooding the quarter.

This is a great event.
We went 2 yrs in a row about 6 yrs ago.
Lots of cool people and a fair amount of (clean) hipster types.
Nothing like sipping bourbon with the distiller himself, learning the rich history of his family's brand, and exchanging a few jokes

Are there any cool events that don't require tickets?

Yes, jump on the site.
Most of the events around 5:00 are open to the public.
I saw Cure has a Gin event on Friday. I may run over for a drink or two before dinner.

Tasting rooms is where its at, but this year in order to get the wrist band one has to purchase a ticket to at least 2 events or spend $100 for events.
