Heading to nola for a bachelor party next month. Renting a house in the Warehouse District. I already know of quite a few good spots, but wanted to hear what the good people at the FDB had to offer.

Thinking one niceish dinner for Saturday night. Good food and atmosphere is what I'm looking for here.

Yeah, I mean...wat? I'm not aware of the existence of "houses" in the WHD.

We've used Tujague's and Dickie Brennan's steak house for BP dinners. They can get you a private room and bartender if you need it.

ok ok. not a "house", it's an airbnb. More like a giant apartment.

Not in the WH, but Charlie's steak house worked well for the beginning of my bachelor party. Their atmosphere was a great for a group of guys knocking back old fashioned and eating some good steaks.

There are better places to go, but we had a lot of fun there.

The WHD does have 3 steakhouses I think. Ruth's, Chophouse and La Boca.

I would probably do La Boca if they want steak. Good location for them, great Argentinian steaks, great drinks and wine, good atmosphere, can accomodate large groups.

Doesn't have to be in the WD - I'd say really anywhere downtown / FQ / Uptown

Peche and La Boca are good choices IMO.

La Boca is stuffy as hell with tables on top of each other. I ate at a 6 top there a month ago and it was cramped

If you want steak, I've done a guys dinner with 10-12 people at Mr John's. Ask them to sit you in the bar area along that back wall. Walk over to the Hot Tin Roof at the Ponchatrain after for a few cocktails

Or sticking with the steakhouse theme similar to Charlie's I've done a large group of guys in the upstairs of Crescent City Steakhouse. Doesn't cost to rent the room, it's private and they will provide a bartender. Fun old school feel, decently priced, and you can cut up without disturbing anyone

They have a table against the wall that can accommodate a group of like 20

So you'd think. Our group tried to get that table but they couldn't seat us until 10:30pm and this wasn't a special event night or anything.

The maitre'd is a douche bag because you the restaurant was booked? That makes zero sense. Restaurants book up on non special event nights all the time. That's not a reason to trash them.

I know. Last time I was there, there was a convention in town and there were two 10+ tops in there. They were sitting on top of each other, squeezing by chairs when they got up. IDK, those tables just seem small there, the space itself is small. Not a place I'd personally go to with say, 8+ people.

eta: OP can certainly do worse than La Boca. You're getting a great meal at a great price there. My thoughts are strictly with the space.

We sat next to that big table last time. I agree it is close quarters at the big top

Tujague's is a strong choice for BP dinner. Been to 2 of them there, had a great time both times. Strong drinks, great food and easy to walk to bars afterwards.
