We're going for a friends birthday with a few couples and they have picked out a few places to go for Apps/cocktails at in the city. I was reaching out to see if anyone has any recommendations at the places.

Toups Meatery
Vessel
Gianna
Cochon

I have not been to any of the 4, but have heard great things about them. If there is any go-to App or Cocktail let me know, down to try anything.

Any info helps, thanks!

I've been to vessel a few times and I can't remember a single thing I ate or drank. I think you could leave that one off.

Cochon would get my vote. I can grab a good beer, cocktail, or wine there along with good small plate options.

Vessel blows, skip it. Waste of a great space.

My vote would be Gianna. They're actually a James Beard Award semifinalist.

We're going to all of them, already have the plans setup...I'm not in control of planning I'm just along for the ride...

Just was wondering if anyone had any go-to's or must trys at any of the places....

sucks to hear about Vessel, looks like a brunch spot from what I gather on their instagram, but cool old church vibe.

Not sure how many of you guys are going and how much you want to spend, but the family style Chef's Choice at Gianna is $50 and completely worth it. Loved everything that they gave to us.

All of sausages and meat/cheese plates at Cochon and Toups will be dynamite. Fried gator is good at Cochon.

I think all the apps/small plates at Cochon and Toups will be very similar and very good. It's the same style for the most part.

If your focus is really on cocktails, then Revel needs to be on your list...it's Chris MacMillan's place on Carrollton. LINK

I know places are set, but there are three places in the quarter with excellent drinks and really good food. Longway Tavern, Belle Epoque and Jewel of the South.

Justine is always festive and would give you great backdrops for IG birthday posts.

Longway Tavern

Place is great for drinks and apps in the quarter. Legit tartare.

The high top long tables in the back would be perfect for a few couples.

My last Toups experience left a lot to be desired on the service side, but they fit the bill. Meat board, cheese board, one of the app specials is usually good.

I'd add Longway Tavern to this list. Hits both things you need.
