something with dual tanks like this Vevor Margarita Machine.

We looked into those for a solid year before the advent of the Slushi, and other than space constraints (which most folks will have), the #1 thing that prevented us from pulling the trigger is that the machines don't appear to be very reliable, and we know firsthand that Vevor customer support is damned-near nonexistent.

We had a water distilling machine from them that had a bad seal on the condenser unit, much like the silicone seal on an Instant Pot lid. All we needed was a replacement seal/gasket, and they said that although the model is still in production, they couldn't sell us the gasket alone.

We ended up doing a return on Amazon and got another which has *knock on wood* worked without issue. The experience left us super wary of Vevor on a support basis.

I'll have to take a look at that, this weekend. Thanks for the recommendation.

Nice. Can't wait to hear how it comes out.

Would a bit of water need to be added to account for the ice needed in a regular blender?

I can't imagine so, but it's certainly possible. We'll give it a spin later today and see how it does straight. After all, the majority of it all is water, anyway.

I posted a video on page 2 with some recipes and detailed information on the water and sugar levels needed. Long story short, yes it needs water to make the "slushi" so many of the recipes you do need to add some water or make sure that there is enough water. Its basically a proper water to sugar ratio that's needed and that includes the ABV.

Chi-Chi's Mudslide does not firm up right out of the bottle. Adding additional water now.

It's frothy, but no slush. Chi-Chi's Mudslide RTD appears to be a bust.

Have you watched the frost setting on the front? It gives an indication of whether or not you need more water or not once it gets cold

Nah unless you are making enough for 3-4 people to eat at a time.

It’s best with at least 40 oz or more.

You can make a ‘milk shake’ but I haven’t tried yet. When mine first arrived I only had one can of root beer and milk and cream so I did a root beer float, it was solid but not enough rootbeer.

I’m not sure what yogurt would do. But if you use refrigerated ingredients it only takes about 10 mins to make a 3-4 serving size about 40oz. So it’s surprising me on how fast it is. Not as fast as a blender, but it’s fast enough to where if you refill it and restart it immediately the second bath will be ready before you drink the first round.

ETA: there are definitely frappe and milk shake recipes. So doing something like a protein shake could be very good, I’m just not sure it would be convenient

We've been buying Ninja products since the OG Ninja Master System prep bowl/pitcher combo originally debuted back on QVC about 15 years ago. Ours is still going strong, as a matter of fact.

I’ve had my ninja blender system for probably fifteen years as well and that thing still kicks arse.

Had some Sweet & sour mix in the fridge.

Throw together margarita recipe as follows:

1 cup sweet & sour mix
1 cup gold tequila (leftover well drink Pepe Lopez)
1 cup water
1/4 cup fresh lime juice

Took about 45 mins to get to consistency. Nothing to write home about.

2 out of 5

We're getting a handle on the need to add water to achieve the desired consistency.

The game plan for the next week or so is to stick almost exclusively to the recipes in the book to get a feel for the ratios, as to not waste ingredients/booze.

Unrelated - we also got a Ninja Creami ice cream maker and it's legit.

Given that we're headed into college football season and this has an opportunity to make restaurant quality mixed drinks at home, I figure it's dramatically appropriate.

I was able to get a little clarification on the mystery of the tank sizes.

Model FS301 for sale everywhere but Walmart has an 88 oz. tank (max fill 64 oz) and 5 presets (Slush, Spiked Slush, Frappe, Milkshake & Frozen Juice)

Model FS300 is exclusive to Walmart and has a 72 oz. tank (appears to be max fill 48 oz.) & only 3 presets: Slush, Spiked Slush & Milkshake.

Sizzle & Sear does a compare & contrast in depth with the various specs.
