I'm going to assume the drink has to be fairly weak with alcohol or won't work? These are basically consumer/ residential grade and if they are quiet are going to likely have a harder time freezing items?

The videos online aren’t too bad. 16 oz of 80 proof alcohol in the 64oz hopper.

I probably wouldn’t use grain alcohol or really anything over 100 proof though.

I'm going to have to watch the video again that I posted, I thought he was very thorough and honest. Its a somewhat complicated requirement between the ABV and sugar content that's required.

Commercial slushy machines have been out forever so I'm not sure why this is the first real one for retail and I wouldn't think there is any major obstacles to overcome outside of pricepoint. But obviously there must be some sort of an issue because items like the Margaritaville blenders in the same or higher price range have been out for years now with no true slushy competitor.

It may simply be because of the more complicated recipe combination required?

Batch of Rum Runners up first and salted caramel vodka shakes up now. This thing is legit.

Yeah you still have to add ice to the Margaritaville machines. We have one.

This may be a dumb question... but has anyone tried throwing in a daquari mix into an icecream maker.

It's loud but I've made icecream using 2% milk some sugar and a flavor extract. Never thought about using it to make daquaris

It turns out like boozy sorbet. Mrs Vox makes a mean homemade custard ice cream. When she got her Cuisinart ice cream maker years ago, (the kind with the inner bowl you store in the freezer), there was a recipe similar to Baskin Robin's Daiquiri Ice sorbet that she found. Naturally, we tried it with rum.

Her current ice cream machine is a countertop one with the built in compressor, so you can do consecutive batches without waiting for the bowl to refreeze.

I'm not sure it's possible to overstate how the Slushi gives restaurant/bar caliber frozen drink consistency. Being able to hold ready-to-serve drinks for 12H is pretty impressive, too.

That $300 looks mighty good in comparison.

Let me see if I can find the Rum Runner one. Mrs Vox had that one made up the night before and chilled in the fridge Thursday night before loading up the machine as soon as it arrived on Friday.

Here it is. We used 99 Bananas for the banana liqueur, Malibu coconut rum, Myers dark rum, & Hattington's Blackberry Brandy:

Pro tip: If you have a Trader Joe's or Aldi nearby, spring for the Not from Concentrate Pineapple juice. Makes a MASSIVE difference.

I think she pulled the Salted Caramel Shake from the book that comes with the machine. We used Smirnoff Caramel Vodka & Torani salted caramel syrup, with real whipped cream & Torani caramel sauce drizzle on top.

The double-walled insulated glasses are crucial to prevent early melting. We also have margarita glasses like that.

Man I bet this would make a badass Pina colada. Once it's in stock, my money will be spent

It's so odd. Kohl's still doesn't even show it on their website, but they're available in store.

I'm a big fan of Chi Chi's Pina Colada mix already pre-mixed with alcohol.

I just add ice and extra shot or so of cocunut rum into a blender. Much better than concentrate and missing on the ratios.

Does anyone know how well the Ninja works with the pre-mix Margueritas and Pina Coladas(not the concentrate)?

We do our stuff from scratch, so there's very little prefab mixes going on here.

I have a hybrid Pina-Rita that I'll queue up for Week 1 CFB next weekend. It's flat-out amazing in its OG form that we did in the Vitamix, and it translated well to the Margaritaville machine. I can only imagine what it'll be like when there's no danger of watering it down with melting ice.

This one?

Never tried it, but our local Total Wine is one of two in metro Atlanta who has a stupidly-robust liquor section. That looks intriguing.

That's it.

I usually cover the ice with the mix 3/4 or so in the Nutri Ninja blender.

I should have posted an image to begin with.

Margaritaville machines

I love mine. I've had it since 2015 and it is still running strong. That is what is preventing me from getting one of these Slushi machines.

But knowing me, I'd probably just jump straight to something with dual tanks like this Vevor Margarita Machine. That way I had an adult side and a kid side so I don't have to fight the heathens.
