Isn't that the definition of over-hyped? When people come out of the woodwork to praise a place without trying other places in the vicinty that screams over-hyped

That, in no way is the definition of overhyped.

Because something is popular and has positive word of mouth =/= overhyped. If It's "overhyped" to you, it just means that you don't like it.

overhype = to promote or publicize to excess

By your example, people are just missing out on other restaurants.

ETA: I look forward to trying the restaurants you and TA are trying to say are better.

Please do. Especially Gautreau's, Lilette, Vizard's, and Clancy's.

When has Le Pavillion ever been uphill?

Oh well, that's what I get for trying to do something good for the wife. Everytime we go down Poydras she says "I've always wanted to stay at this hotel". Trip Advisor has it ranked pretty high with good reviews from recent stays.

It's still a pretty good place. You will enjoy.
The only problem with it is that it is a little bit of a far walk for some people to go to the quarter and such.

I stayed there a couple years back and one night this past Mardi Gras, it was fine. The wife will like it. You're all good.

CP, Gautreau's, Clancy's, Patois, Vizard's, Bistro Daisy, Lilette, Dick and Jenny's, Brigtsen's, Petit Grocery, Crepe Nanou, Upperline, Casamento's, Jamila's, Boucherie, Dante's Kitchen, and The Flaming Torch.
IMO all are better than over-hyped JMo's.

I love me some JMo's but Glass is right, all of the aboved mentioned are all greater than Jmo's.

+1

I think those of us who went when it first opened...no lines, amazing food, etc. bemoan the fact that it is a shell of its former self. This bothers me personally, and I probably don't give it as much credit as I should.

There was always a line, and the food hasn't really changed. (There was never anything even bordering on "amazing" about it, but it's always been at least decent, in my estimation,)

It's okay to admit you liked the novelty of the place, really.

We always went early...but I suppose there was a short line of locals when we were leaving.

Of course, I loved the novelty of the place...it was unique and fun...still is.

Y.A., you can admit it was much better when Austin Leslie was in the kitchen.

we stayed at le pavillion because we got a great deal last month for the first time and we liked it...yes it's a bit of a walk maybe 5-7 min to quarter but with that said it was also only like 5 bucks by cab...the staff was great..we usually stay at the monteleone or omni royal but we would stay there again especially for a great rate (i think i found it for 92$ this weekend)anyway enjoy!

If the F&D people ever had dinner at ol' Jack's...well, it could be a fabulous disaster.
